2024 has truly been a transformative year for us. It marks the beginning of JiWoo Bake in Madison, Wisconsin. Our journey started with countless late nights spent planning, perfecting our salt bread and canelés, and navigating the challenges of how the business would unfold. We faced endless worries about licenses, regulations, and the unknowns of entrepreneurship. While the process was far from easy, we are incredibly grateful for how it all began—starting small and being loved and supported by a wonderful community of customers in Madison who believed in us from day one 🙏🏻 We appreciate you all!
Just three months into our venture, we made the decision to relocate to San Francisco after receiving an exciting job offer. This meant restarting the entire process from scratch: finding a new kitchen, rebuilding our customer base, and reapply all the licenses. Being in a big city like San Francisco has been overwhelming at times, and there were moments of doubt about whether we should continue on this path. On top of that, juggling a full-time job with running a weekend baking business has certainly been challenging.
And yet, here we are, starting fresh with small batch baking in Menlo Park. We’re not sure where this journey will take us, but we are beyond thankful for the support from our customers. We’re excited to explore new flavors and share them with you. Every order means the world to us, and we take immense pride in handcrafting each canelé with love and care.
In just one year, we’ve grown so much—not only in our baking skills and business knowledge but also in how we connect with our customers and experiment with new flavors. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Thank you, 2024!
Looking ahead to next year, we plan to do pop-up events and collaborate with local businesses, offering more opportunities for people to try our baked goods and experience our passion for baking. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead and are thrilled for what’s to come!
