Warning: ‼️ long rant incoming:
This morning, during a super busy Sunday morning, one of my wonderful (newer) employees was berated over her not wiping a table down fast enough and offering said customer the wrong seat that he “didn’t care for”. As I was working next door until I was needed, I was surprised to find her in there sitting on the floor crying (she didn’t expect me to find her) , silently sobbing, deep breathing, so she could return and continue to serve all of our hundreds that poured through the door today with a smile.
Most days, most customers say how wonderful we are, what great and welcoming service we have, or just nice things all around, they love the food, they wish it were in their town, they’re impressed by how kind and welcoming we are even when handling massive amounts of people… I swear, I’m not exaggerating, read our reviews, they’re mostly so great!
BUT… then there’s that one guy or gal who just pushes past common decency, and decides that their needs and desires take precedent over all else, or decides that they would like to abuse a food service worker for no reason, like really, no reason, except maybe they had some bad energy they felt like laying on someone else who is trying to just live their life also,
…and that’s where I draw the line.
The reason I mentioned she was newer was because I had to explain to her that at Goodlife, that just isn’t tolerated. At Goodlife, We are a mirror, if you can’t be nice, if you think your needs are more important than others, if you don’t have time for us to lovingly prepare your seat, food, order, drink, or ring you up for what you want, we don’t want you at goodlife. She didn’t know that but she does now. She was crying because she felt like she had to allow herself to be treated like less than a human from someone treating her as such, that’s not how goodlife works and it’s not how I choose to run things. That guy was lucky I didn’t witness it and that I didn’t kick him out after I found her crying. Seriously people, if you can’t be nice to people serving you, I don’t know where to tell you to go, just go away from goodlife please. 🙏🏽 thanks
