Well, it's been announced in our private group and by word-of-mouth, but I've yet to put something here just yet. Closing this chapter has been so bittersweet for me.
After years of sprinkles, sleepless nights, and thousands of pounds of batter… it’s time to officially say goodbye to Flowers & Frosting Cake Co.
This business was built from 1 uncertain idea. That turned into a few more ideas, that turned into a "let me try this!" After a while- that turned into "I bet I could do that better if I just tried it again." Until it grew into what it has become.
The truth is: life looks a lot different now. My girls are growing way too fast, my hands (and heart) are full, and it’s time to show up fully for this new season. One that doesn’t involve 3AM cake orders or forgetting to eat because I’m buried in buttercream.
I’m so proud of what I’ve built. It makes it even harder when I look back on what I have made from the ground up, be so successful. Something that has gotten to me the most- is when in response to this I hear "Oh why are you quitting while it's so successful?! I'm so sorry!" Honestly, this is the most frequent thing I've been told.
My friends, please don’t feel sorry — truly. I’m stepping into a new season of life with a full heart. While I’ll absolutely miss this chapter, I’m equally excited and ready to be fully present in what’s ahead.
And as for the word “quit”… that just doesn’t sit right. We didn’t give up. We didn’t throw in the towel. And we certainly weren’t forced into this decision. This choice came after a lot of prayer, reflection, and courage. It is such a blessing to have the discernment to know when to pause and realign with what matters most. I'm so thankful for the ongoing support in this decision from all of you. 🤍
Thank you so much for trusting me, cheering me on, and growing with me. We first shared the news back in June in our private group, but I’ve honestly struggled to find the right words to say here. We had to announce early to give our loyal clients time to plan ahead, as many of you have been with us through every season and holiday. Please check her page for our last event, as my final farewell. 🤍
If you have an order placed for our final months — it’s still on the books, and we’re finishing strong.
This isn’t the end of the sweet things in life… just the beginning of a new kind of sweetness. 💗
With love, The McDermotts
