This was supposed to be a side hustle. 😂

If you're new around here, hi! I'm the mom, full-time working professional, and slightly sleep-deprived woman behind Big Buns Bakery.

What started as a little side hustle in our home kitchen has somehow turned into baking hundreds (sometimes over 1,000!) of cinnamon rolls, spending our weekends at farmers markets, and having more butter in our refrigerator than actual groceries.

Somewhere in between my full-time job, raising Maggie, and keeping this bakery going with John, we're just trying to keep up with it all. 😅

It's been a wild ride watching this little business grow. I love all the different hats I wear, but goodness, some days they're heavy!

I started the day dropping off fresh buns at Country Charm Coffee in Anna and got to smell some of their amazing new coffee beans.

John is at the McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square this morning running the booth solo (go say hi to him 😂) while I’m at home baking away for tomorrow’s Gluten-Free Market at Chestnut Square!

It’s a busy Big Buns weekend over here, but we’re excited! ❤️

Big Buns Bakery will be at the McKinney Farmers Market tomorrow from 8 AM–12 PM! 🎉

📍 Heads up — we’re in a different spot this week! Due to the mud, our booth will be on the opposite side of the Dulaney House from our normal location. Check out the map below to find us!

It’ll be John holding down the Big Buns booth solo while I’m busy prepping approximately one million cinnamon rolls 😂 for Sunday’s Gluten-Free Market at Chestnut Square!

DOUBLE MARKET WEEKEND PREP HAS ENTERED THE CHAT. 😅

360 eggs.
192 sticks of butter.
100+ pounds of powdered sugar.
A small mountain of Bob’s Red Mill gluten-free flour — individually sealed and stored to help prevent cross-contact.

And somehow… we still need more stuff. 😂

We’re stocking up because Big Buns is doing TWO markets this weekend — McKinney Farmers Market on Saturday and the Gluten-Free Market on Sunday!

Sunday is getting its own special prep, too. I still need to grab dairy-free butter and oat milk because we’re bringing our Gluten-Free + Vegan OG Classy Buns! 🙌🌱

At this point, our house is approximately 10% home and 90% cinnamon roll production facility.

And this isn’t even the baking part yet. 😆

Apparently Sam’s Club has a 350 lb delivery limit and today is the day I learned that. 😂

Prepping for McKinney Farmers Market on Saturday AND the Gluten-Free Market on Sunday, and apparently we have officially crossed into “your groceries are too heavy” territory.

We are working on making some very large and very heavy buns over here, ladies and gentlemen. 😂🍑

Send help. Or butter. Actually, definitely butter....so much butter.

✨ Gluten-Free Royalty Event in Frisco! ✨

Apparently, gluten-free people know how to party. 😂

John and I spent Saturday afternoon at the very first Gluten-Free Royalty event in Frisco, and it was SUCH a fun little afternoon!

Think iced coffee bar, gluten-free goodies everywhere, goodie bags, raffle prizes, local businesses and a whole room full of people who actually understand the excitement of finding something you can eat. Coach Jill was there too sharing information and resources with the gluten-free community!

We brought plenty of Big Buns, tried goodies from some of the other vendors, met so many sweet people and had an absolute blast.

Huge thank you to Kay, the amazing woman behind Gluten-Free Royalty, for inviting us and putting the whole thing together! 🫶 Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, grabbed a bun or came over to say hi. Y’all made our afternoon!

Now we’re gearing up for the BIG one…

Two markets in one day! 🙌

Texas football is in full swing, and we loved seeing everyone representing their teams this morning at McKinney Farmers Market!

Then it was off to Frisco for an afternoon of gluten-free goodies!

Lots of buns, lots of familiar faces, and one busy Saturday! Thank y’all for showing up and supporting our little bakery at BOTH markets today!

Now it’s time to put our feet up and enjoy the rest of the weekend! ❤️

Oh, Baby! We've Got BIG Dreams! ❤️

Y'all. A lady reached out about ordering cinnamon rolls for a baby shower. She had never even seen our buns before, but apparently CHATGPT RECOMMENDED BIG BUNS. 😂 We're officially getting referrals from artificial intelligence, and I don't know how to feel about it. 😆

But this seems like the perfect opportunity to share a little about where we're headed!

✨ What's the Long-Term Vision for Big Buns? ✨

Think Nothing Bundt Cakes or Tiff's Treats, but make it cinnamon rolls. Our goal is to become the bakery you think of when you have something to celebrate! We're talking Happy Birthday Bun Boxes, Congratulations Bun Boxes, baby showers, teacher appreciation, corporate gifts and everything in between. We want to create fun, customizable gift boxes and packaging that make our cinnamon rolls just as exciting to give as they are to receive.

We don't want to be a bakery that makes a little bit of everything. We want to specialize in ONE thing, do it really dang well and build an entire brand around it.

We're still a little home bakery with some BIG dreams, and it's exciting to see those dreams starting to take shape. Especially when ChatGPT is apparently out here doing our marketing for us. 😂

We’re SO excited to be back at the Chestnut Square Gluten-Free Market!

Last time, we were incredibly fortunate to receive 132 pre-orders. Y’all seriously showed up for Big Buns! 🥹
This time around, we’re doing things a little differently. Managing that many individual pre-orders was a bit of an administrative beast 😅, so we will not be taking pre-orders for this market.

Instead, we’re planning to bring several hundred fresh cinnamon rolls, including gluten-free AND gluten-free vegan buns!

If you have specific food allergies or dietary concerns, please reach out to us before the market. We’re always happy to answer questions about our ingredients and preparation process. 💙
