This month, as we raise awareness for Autism, I’d love to share a little bit about our family, and why awareness and acceptance is so near and dear to our heart.
Four years ago, when the Blossom Bake Shoppe began, our Addy girl was just two years old. She’s our third child, and at that age, I remember describing her as just the most “go with the flow” child there ever was. Addy was quiet, always on the move, and loved to play alone. We attributed missing milestones to having an older brother and sister who doted on her. Though we were already in early intervention, it wouldn’t be for another year that we received an official diagnosis.
In the spring of 2023, Adalynn was officially diagnosed with Autism (Level 3). I remember at the time being scared and unsure about what was to come. I worried about the challenges we would face in the future, and what life would look like for our family of 5.
What I did not anticipate, was the incredible people we’d meet along the way. From providers and teachers to other parents of special needs children - we have had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing people and children.
And Addy? Well, our littlest Blossom is just thriving. She reminds us every day to stop and smell the flowers, and is such an incredible little girl.
I cannot adequately express the gratitude I have for our little bake shoppe, and what it’s done for our family. The Blossom Bake Shoppe didn’t just provide an additional income, but flexibility, allowing me the opportunities to give our family the resources they need.
…and for that, I am forever grateful to each and every one of you who have supported our business, one cookie at a time. ♥️
