For those that always asked about my mom who suffered almost 20 years with early on set Alzheimer’s …She is finally at rest. ❤️🩹🙏🙏🙏❤️🩹I’ll never forget the sweet customers who knew and always asked me how she was doing and those that shared their own story of someone they knew and loved that suffered from this horrendous disease or one just as bad. It only feels right to keep you all informed and to thank you for your prayers all this time. So now, when I see people who ask about my mom, I am able to say she is healed. 💕🙏💕
Elisa Haydee Vargas (Pupo)
Elisa was a woman known for her deep love of family, remarkable selflessness, and compassionate spirit. She was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2025. She was 74.
Elisa was born on December 17, 1950, in Banes, Cuba, to Pedro and Idalia Pupo. She grew up in a vibrant, extended family environment that instilled in her a lifelong devotion to her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roberto Vargas, whom she lovingly cared for until his last breath.
Together, Elisa and Roberto raised three children: Heidi Charest (Michael), Robert Vargas (Colleen), and Candy Vargas. While she loved her children immensely, her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren: Jagger Evan, Landon Alexander, Cash Vargas, and Brooks Chaplin.
After her husband’s passing, Elisa was blessed with a compassionate companion, Chuck Nueber, whom she deeply loved. Chuck brought her some of her happiest moments, and her children are incredibly thankful to him for the precious years he shared with her before her illness progressed.
Elisa’s love for her siblings was boundless. She is remembered for sharing a special, close bond with them, and they are credited with providing exceptional, sacrificial care throughout her illness, allowing her to be with her family for as long as possible. She is survived by her loving sisters and brothers-in-law: Maritza Arechavala (Octavio), Josephine Okane (Jim), Carmen Ortiz (Raymond), and Suzy Flores (Ramon). She was preceded in death by her late brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Mirtha Pupo.
Elisa will be remembered for the beautiful garden she tended year after year, for her amazing Christmas Cookies, and, most of all, for her profound compassion that extended from her family to strangers. She touched every life she encountered with kindness and grace.
