ed the tradition of making Christmas cookies every year, and I’ve only missed three years in my life – unavoidably. Christmas just wasn’t the same those years! I spent over 30 years as an Executive Assistant, and I was always the one who made cakes for birthdays or baby showers (or really any excuse to have cake). My coworkers always told me I should quit my job and open a bakery! But the reality was that I didn’t want it to feel like work, and I was afraid that if I did it full-time, it would no longer be fun. Cakes have always been fun for me to bake and decorate, but now that I’m retired, I’ve found myself focusing on cookies, and at long last, I’m able to dedicate more time to special requests and occasions … and my friends started to tell their friends about my cookies … and more and more they started to pay me for them! We cookiers love the creativity and fun of designing and decorating cookies for all occasions, and cookies can be made in all shapes and sizes and colors! It’s amazing what you can do with a cookie! Every cookie is made personally by me, by hand. People often tell me, “Oh my! They’re just too pretty to eat!” But I’ve always said, “Not at all! If it doesn’t taste great, there’s no point in baking!” My motto is ‘CHOMP! CHOMP!’

Do you personally make every cookie? Yes, much time and love goes into making fun and pretty cookies! Each custom order is unique, and every cookie is made and decorated individually by hand – from start to finish – by me. Where do you make your cookies? My home kitchen is inspected and registered with the State of Pennsylvania. Registration No. 206211. This allows me to bake from home and sell directly to consumers, not to retailers. How much do your cookies cost? The average size of my cookies is about 3 – 3½” and a typical order costs $48-$54 per dozen, and the minimum order is 2 dozen. The price may vary … it depends on size, amount of detail, number of colors, stenciling, airbrushing, level of bling, packaging and how many different cookie designs you’d like. How do you package your cookies? Each cookie is individually heat sealed in cellophane bags. Depending on the size of your order, they may be presented in bakery boxes or paper gift bags. Cookies in my cookie platters are individually placed with a dot of royal icing on grease-resistant cake boards and heat sealed in a cellophane bag. How much notice do you need for orders? The sooner you place an order, the better your chances are of getting on my Cookie Calendar – it fills up fast!
3 to 4 weeks’ notice is a good idea, but it never hurts to ask … sometimes I get orders months in advance, and occasionally I can do an order within a week or so. A non-refundable 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your place on my cookie calendar. How do I pay you for my order? Your date is not reserved until I receive your 50% non-refundable deposit. Balance is due upon delivery, or prior to shipping. I accept checks (payable to Sally Danko), cash and PayPal. Is there a minimum order required? Yes, my minimum order is 2 dozen. Do you ship your cookies? Sally’s Cookies ship very well! I charge the actual shipping cost plus $10 for packaging and materials. If the shape of a cookie has a ‘limb’ or parts that stick out as part of its shape, shipping may not be good for them. Please let me decide which cookies I’ll ship … otherwise I’ll be up nights worrying about whether they arrive intact! What flavors do you offer? My Fresh Lemon Sugar Cookies with Fresh Lemon Royal Icing are indeed a customer favorite, but I also offer Vanilla, Deep Chocolate, Gingerbread, and Cardamom Orange Spice sugar cookies. My royal icing flavors include Fresh Lemon, Vanilla, and Almond. How long will your cookies stay fresh? For optimum flavor and texture, Sally’s Cookies last about two weeks unrefrigerated, in their heat-sealed bags. However, they freeze beautifully! If you keep them sealed individually and placed in an airtight container, they’ll be good for at least 2 months. The key is defrosting them properly … remove the container from the freezer, and don’t open it. Leave it out overnight, and open the airtight container the next morning. This will prevent condensation from forming on the individual sealed cookies, which may lead to color bleeding and smearing. How do I place an order? I’d love to make some fun cookies for you! Sally’s Cookies are made with butter, flour, sugar, eggs, meringue powder, fresh lemon juice and zest, corn syrup, flavor, and spices. Depending on the recipe,
they may also include chocolate and other flavorings. THERE ARE NO NUTS IN MY COOKIES, BUT THERE ARE NUTS IN MY KITCHEN! Sally’s Cookies is not a nut-free facility! I use almond extract in some of my cookies and icing.
* SPRINKLES * may contain all or some of the following ingredients: sugar, partially hydrogenated palm kernel oil, dextrose, maltodextrin, tapioca dextrin, glucose, corn syrup, calcium stearate, corn starch, soy lecithin, potato starch, rice flour, FD&C artificial colors, carnauba wax, confectioner's glaze, natural & artificial flavor, HPMC, bees wax, gum arabic, mica based pearlescent pigment, shellac. Though sprinkles do not contain nut or gluten as ingredients, some components are manufactured in facilities that process allergens. There is always a chance of cross contamination. Metallic decorations are non-toxic. The FDA has not yet approved this coloring for consumption, and it can be removed prior to eating cookies if you wish.
