Earlier this year, we began a series that introduces you to the crew that makes Martinho's such a special place. And since today is Donald's last day with us ššš, we thought we'd run his story again.
So here you have it.

Meet the Martinho's Crew - The Reprise
Episode 1.3 Donald Sanders
If youāve ever wondered what, or who, makes the magic happen in the kitchen, well, itās definitely a dynamic team effort. And an integral part of that team is Donald. Some know him by the endearing name of Big Sh*tty, but the privilege to call him that must be earned. Weāll stick to Donald for now.
Donald has been with Martinhoās since Steve Krans became the proprietor in January 2024; he and Steve have known each other for over 25 years. A native of Orange County, Donald knows most everyone, and if he doesnāt know you, he knows someone who knows you. While heās all business when it comes making great food, thereās still time for pranks in the kitchen, so you might catch him with his pocket unknowingly stuffed with olives or his entire body unwillingly covered in flour.
Donald has been in kitchens most of his lifeā¦ his father owned The Peddler Steak House in Chapel Hill where he started working when he was 16 years old. The restaurant bug bit him, and he went to culinary school then returned to work at The Peddler for several years. Since then, heās gained a plethora of experience in the hospitality industry, and that background contributes to his standard of consistent and excellent quality.
If youāre lucky enough to catch Donald when heās in the dining area, make sure you thank him for sharing his talents with us, for keeping everyone in the kitchen from taking themselves too seriously, and for making us smile with his grumpy sarcasm.
