Meet the Martinho’s Crew
Episode 1:17 Charlie Huttle
Oh, Charlie. What a delightful addition to Martinho’s she’s been this summer, following in the footsteps of her mom and brother, who both worked at the restaurant before her. Because of their experiences here, Charlie knew that Martinho’s was an environment she wanted to be part of—in her words, a healthy workplace where people genuinely enjoy one another. And even though she’s only been here since June, it didn’t take long for her to feel like part of the family.
Charlie moved with her family from California to North Carolina in 2020, and she quickly embraced the welcoming feel—and the flora—of our state. She has little desire to return to California, and as a rising senior at Eastern Alamance High School, she plans to stay in North Carolina to attend Coastal Carolina Community College next fall and pursue special education teaching, with a focus on the arts in special education.
Most days this summer, Charlie has been making cold subs, but with school starting, she’ll have to work less. And despite a busy schedule as part of the school golf and soccer teams, she enjoys the atmosphere at Martinho’s so much—one that “just feels natural” and feels like the crew has known each other forever, she says—that she wants to continue to make time to work here. When not working or playing sports, Charlie enjoys making pottery, crafting, and spending time with her friends.
Charlie’s energy and spirited personality, work ethic, and ability to stay calm under pressure make it easy for her coworkers to forgive the occasional lapse in focus that might result in an order that’s not quite right. Most importantly, she recovers quickly, resolves the problem, and moves on. This team player approach is no surprise: Sandwiched between two brothers, and with the addition of an exchange student from Spain for the academic year in their home, she naturally works well with others. We’ve all embraced Charlie’s presence and contributions here, and we’ll miss having her around so much. Thank you, Charlie, for your enthusiastic spirit, your hard work, and your commitment to our standard of excellence. We’re lucky to have you, in any capacity, as part of our crew.
