Busy, busy, busy these last two days!
I had to get the canner back out because it was time to make another batch of my Great Grandmother’s dill pickles! 🥒
My commercial kitchen is taking a little longer than expected to be completed, but I completely understand with this Oklahoma heat! 🥵 So, until my new kitchen is ready, I’m still making things at home!
I sliced 200 pounds of cucumbers, filling 8 five-gallon buckets packed full, and ended up making 243 jars of dill pickles—pints and quarts!
This batch was definitely a little more emotional for me. I found myself really missing my Gramps, who used to help me slice all those cucumbers and stuff every single jar. ❤️ My little brother Seth has taken his place helping me over the years, but he wasn’t able to help this time, so it was just me—slicing, stuffing, and canning.
While I worked, I found myself reminiscing and feeling incredibly thankful. Thankful for the life I’ve been blessed with, thankful for the memories, and especially thankful that I’m able to carry on my Great Grandmother’s recipe and share it with all of you.
So many of you have told me that these are the best pickles you’ve ever had, and that means more to me than you know! I take so much pride in everything I make, but there’s something extra special about being able to share these old family recipes with people in our community.
Every jar holds a little piece of my family’s history, a whole lot of love, and plenty of memories. ❤️
243 jars later…this girl is TIRED! 😂 But my heart is full.
Thank you for supporting my small business and allowing me to share a little piece of my family with you.
