Mr. Bucan and Mr. Mason have once again organized the “Souper Bowl” event at Roosevelt. Students are requested to bring in cans of soup to support our Backpack Buddies program. Upon bringing in the soup, students can place their cans on either the Chiefs or Eagles side to cast their vote for the Super Bowl winner this Sunday. Currently, Mr. Mason’s Eagles are leading, but donations and votes will be accepted until Friday, so there is still time for Mr. Bucan’s Chiefs fans to bring in their cans.

Thanks for the donations received already. Please keep looking for the sales on school supplies and help our students be prepared for the new school year.

Once again Blue Devil's Student Outreach, along with the MCDonald High School National Honor Society, will be putting together the school supplies for those students that are part of our program.
There is an Amazon list for those who prefer to shop online, as well as a list of items that are much cheaper in the store.
All items can be dropped of at the Board of Education office or inside the front door at Roosevelt. You can also message me and I can pick up. The lists are in the comments.

We would like to thank the McDonald National Honor Society for donating all the proceeds from their Glow Walk to our organization. They raised almost $4,000! This donation will go a long way in the work we do to help McDonald students and their families. We’d like to give a special shoutout to Lily Cappuzzello. She worked very hard organizing this event as her senior project for NHS. We are very thankful to her and rest of the chapter.

It was a “Souper” week at Roosevelt, as students and staff brought in cans of soup for our backpack program. As they brought in their cans, the participants showed their support for their favorite team by placing the cans on that team’s table. It seemed to be a close race of 148 to 115, until the McDonald police officers showed up today with over 300 cans to donate to “Taylor’s boyfriend’s team”! The McDonald FOP’s support of our program and our students is amazing! We would also like to thank Mr. Bucan and Mr. Mason for organizing this event, and all of those who donated!

So many blessings to be thankful for this year!

Our small village has been a driving force for our program since the beginning 4 years ago. Anytime that there is a need, the response is overwhelming! Our community has always come through on monetary and food donations when needed. Thinking outside the box and reaching out to see if our program could use certain items when the opportunity arises.

I want to thank the administration for all of their support. The School Board, Mr. O'Connell, Mrs. Titus, Mr. Jones and Mr. Carkido have been 100% percent behind this program and it wouldn't be possible without them.

MCDonald High School National Honor Society, has their hands in every project that we do. From running food drives, getting donations for Christmas to wrapping all of the gifts over their holiday break, these students have a true heart for giving!

Brooke Bosheff has been doing a great job overseeing our Student Outreach Room at the high school. Quietly giving of her own time in doing so. Such a great example of what the next generation has to offer.

Mr. Miller who provides several hams for our families for Christmas dinner.

The Woodland Park United Methodist Church provides non food bags to our families throughout the year.

For our Santa crew and their helpers who give of their time to deliver gifts to our students. Secretly I think they enjoy it as much as the kids!

I hope that each of you realize what a difference you are making in these children's' lives. One day they will realize that they had a whole community behind them and rooting them on and they will pass that along to others.
