We will be closed tomorrow for 400 mile yard sale preparations. We look forward to opening and serving y’all (and of course a good yard sale) Thursday at 8am until 4pm. We will have dessert, the usual breakfast and lunch menu items, burgers, hotdogs, and grilled chicken sandwiches combos for sale. Also, our son will be out serving homemade freshly squeezed lemonade.

Hello Everyone!

Mike here (Seleece's Husband). Today I wanted to express my deepest thanks for the support of the Mays Lick / Mason County community members and fervent supporters of Seleece's shop. This was always a dream of hers and you all allowed her to live it, if only for a while. Thanks to every one of you!

Today's post is going to be about the shop's performance. I know folks like to talk, so I figured as the shop's bookkeeper, I can at least share the truth of the matter and give everyone something to talk about. So here goes:

For 2025 (Late Feb - Dec; 9.5 months), the shop earned approximately 88k in revenue, with a 16% profit margin.
For 2026, (Jan 01 - May 31) the shop earned just under 40k in revenue, with a similar margin. I won't have exact details until I get all of the expenses plugged in. We had more staff at the start of 2026, so I expect closer to 13% for 2026.

So what does this mean and why are we telling you all? We have three reasons:

The first is because the truth is important, and if folks don't know something they will just make it up to sound smart or tell a good story. We wanted to save the local gossips the trouble of having to whisper. We are open folks and happy to share our experience if it will help others.

The second reason is to show that we aren't closing because the business wasn't profitable. It was. As a first time business owner and first time restaurant operator, Seleece absolutely crushed it. She made a profit in her first year on her first try. Most businesses don't. I couldn't be more proud of her. Yes we made mistakes. Yes we did things wrong sometimes. We screwed up orders. We forgot stuff. And we got some stuff right and fed a lot of folks. We might have even learned a thing or two along the way. Most importantly, we made some wonderful, lifelong friends. 10/10 would do it again.

The third reason is to again emphasize our appreciation for our customers. I'm talking about our loyal customers. I'm talking about the ones that came day after day and week after week and allowed Seleece to move across the country and take a real chance at dream chasing; a chance at doing something besides slaving away at a thankless, dead-end job while her deadbeat husband (that's me!) finished his Bachelor's Degree, chased farm animals around, larped a a handyman, and homeschooled the kids. You all know who you are and we are eternally grateful for every one of you.

That's all for today. Thank you if you read this far. We hope to see you all later this week for the 400 mile yard sale. Roger will have fresh squeezed lemonade and we will be serving burgers, hot dogs, and the usual lunch fare. Open Thurs-Sun 8a-4p.

Thank you!!!

The decision on closing was made months ago. A month prior I announced to my regulars the decision i made to close to prepare them for what is coming. Two weeks prior I was making in store customers aware of this decision. I admit I didn’t have a clear date for them but I did know it was the week after the yard sale. This decision wasn’t made irrationally. The story of how I started, the potential of closure the last time, the plans to try and stay open, and then the path of this closure now was never a secret to my in store customers through conversations. My life has been an open book from the start. I had goals for the business and they weren’t met. I had a goal to try and stay open and work, but it fell through. Now, it’s time to do a 180 and start over. I’m ok with that, my family is ok with that, and so are those who supported my business and became good friends with me. I will forever be grateful to those who came in and got to know me, who met me and saw me for who I am, and got to know my personality, for those who supported online, and from states away, those who recommended me without even trying the food, and most importantly those who came in everyday to once a week. Thank you to those who were critical, harsh, and generous enough to leave horrible comment, reviews, and private messages. Without you I would have never grown, never learned, or appreciated the smaller things in life.

Good Morning! 5/30/26 8a-4pm

Today is the last day we will be offering any specials that aren’t on the menu. So if you’ve been planning to come out and try my food don’t miss out on this opportunity.

For our specials today:
•Omelettes (list of fillers on the board at the shop)
•Biscuits and Gravy with eggs and bacon
•Basic platter (toast, eggs, meat, potatoes)

No lunch special just the usual menu items.

I am officially CLOSING the bakery, the last day I am open is the 7th of June. Next week I am closed til Thursday the 4th of June. We will be open for the 400 mile yard sale which is Thursday the 4th until Sunday the 7th and our hours will be 8am til 4pm.
We are liquidating the shop and purging our home for the 400 mile yard sale. During those four days I will be offering my menu items plus burgers and hot dogs. My son like last year will have his lemonade stand as well.

With the liquidation, if you are interested in purchasing items prior to the yard sale please contact me. My previous post has a ton listed in the comment section. Otherwise I have not yet finished going through my items. But if there is something specific we can talk. Thank you.
