The Boarding House Bakery and cake and candy retail shop Bakery plus cake, candy & baking supply shoppe. The bakery offers cakes, cupcakes, cookies, candy and more.

Everything is done per order so its as fresh as possible. Supplies we offer are cake boxes, cake boards, food coloring, decorating tips, decorating bags, cookie cutters, cupcake containers, etc.

Now that things have somewhat calmed down I have a few things to say. Lol. First and foremost thank you all for the love, prayers and support for my husband. He is doing so much better and expecting a full recovery.

Vicki and I were also so overwhelmed by all the love and well wishes from you all when we announced our retirements. It has been our honor to be apart of so many beautiful moments in your families lives. It has been hard to realize that we will no longer be a part of your lives moving forward but you have all touched our hearts deeply and we will never be able to repay you for all of the love and support you have given us over the last 28 years. Over those 28 years you have watched my family grow, the business grow, supported us through the worst moments of our lives and celebrated the best days of our lives. We are forever grateful! ♥️

To Jamie Kappler (not pictured) and Brittany Shonk where do I even begin? They have been with us forever. We have celebrated business stuff and personal stuff together, we have mourned together, they dealt with the down times when work was slow and they busted their butts during the crazy times. They started out as employees but truly became family. We can’t thank either one of you enough for all of your hard work and dedication to us over the years. You will never understand how much you both mean to us. We pray that life brings you all the joys that you deserve in the future.

I am sorry I haven’t been in to say good bye to a lot of our customers but my husband had a stroke a week and a half ago and I have been a little busy taking care of him and all of the therapy appointments. He is doing really well.

I will be there tomorrow (Saturday) from 11 to 1:00 if anyone I missed would like to come see me. It’s going to be an emotional day but I am also looking forward to what our futures hold for us. Hope to see you. ♥️

We have been unable to find a buyer for the shop; therefore, we will be closing up at the end of this month. Our last day here will be Saturday, September 27th.

If you would like to get any future orders (i.e. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthdays, Celebrations, etc) together for us to do, we would need them by the beginning of next week. Our cookies are safe to be frozen until your event. They will still thaw out soft and delicious.

A Message To Our Wonderful Customers🎂🍪❤️

After many heartfelt conversations and reflection, Vicki and I have made the decision to sell our beloved bakery. As many of you know, this business has been our pride and joy for many years. It's been more than a bakery-it's been a place of laughter, memories and community. But as we look ahead, we feel it's time to begin a new chapter and enjoy a well-earned retirement.

Please know this was not an easy choice for either one of us. We love what we have built, but most of all, we love YOU-our loyal customers who have supported us through every batch of cookies, every holiday rush and every early morning. Not to mention the friendships we have made. So many of you have seen us through some difficult times and have supported us personally and we hope that we were able to also support you during your times.

We are in search of a new owner(s) who shares our passion for quality and community. If you happen to be that person, please reach out to us at 330-832-2935 (serious inquiries only).

During this transition, the shop will remain open and continue to run smoothly, with the same delicious treats you have always loved. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this journey so special for Vicki, myself, Jamie and Brittany and our behind the scenes family. We are excited for the future, both for our family and the next chapter of the bakery.
