'Tis the season for baking. As July comes to a close and the foggy days of August roll in, I often find myself baking more for the family. Pumpkin Bread, muffins, bread, cookies and cobbler.

Tonight, we make chocolate cobbler!

Here's the recipe!

For the cobbler
1/2 stick unsalted butter
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk

For the chocolate sauce
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup boiling water

Preheat your oven to 350°. In a 9x9 casserole dish place one half stick of melted butter and put it in the oven while you're oven is preheating. In a small bowl combine the sugar and cocoa powder for the chocolate sauce. Grab a larger bowl and add in the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Stir to combine. Add in the milk and mix just until combined. Remove the hot pan from the oven with the melted butter. Pour over the cobbler mixture. Do not mix. Sprinkle over the cocoa and sugar mixture and then pour the hot water into the pan. Do not mix. Place the pan in the oven and bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. You can check at 35 minutes. Some ovens will bake faster than others. You can ensure it is done by sticking a toothpick into the cobbler. It will come out clean. Allow to cool on the counter for 10 to 15 minutes. Scoop into a bowl and top with your favorite vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
