While we are Marquette's ONLY exclusive Wedding Bakery, we are not booking new clients at this time. Hi! I'm Lindsey! I am the one woman show behind Sweet Lou's.

It's a pleasure to meet you! Having worked in the restaurant industry for almost 25 years, I have gained experience in all facets of this crazy business. Baking sort of fell into my lap-after a career in sales and consulting, I was ready for a "fun" job that would allow me to be creative while making memories for my clients. I started baking pies at Loula's cafe-an institution in downtown Whitefis

h, MT-if you've been to Whitefish, you've been to Loula's! Along with the thousands of pies, the owner allowed me to create new offerings. i also decided to take a couple of cake decorating classes to fill my time-who knew it would awaken both a talent and a passion! Shortly after, my now husband(and Official Taste Tester) and I relocated to Marquette, MI-the place he was born and raised for a job opportunity. I wasn't ready or expecting the challenge of finding employment for myself so I decided to make my own and haven't looked back!

Sweet Lou's was born, inspired by a childhood nickname-Lindsey Lou; the cafe I started this baking path-Loula's; and the woman who gave me a chance when I had no experience-Mary Lou.

It has been quite the learning experience-no two days are the same and I run the whole show. From the baking to the dishes, the order coordination, bookkeeping, supply runs, marketing, and on and on. But the best part definitely is creating a memory for every one of my clients! Thank you to all of my clients-past, present and future! You are the reason I get to do what I love!

Greetings Sweet Lou’s fans and followers-please read this important announcement!

I started Sweet Lou’s almost 5 years ago not knowing what the future held and unsure exactly how far and what direction I was wanting to take this little home baking business. Many pivots later and here we are, another season of change. I have decided to pause booking new clients for the foreseeable future-for many reasons including:

~We sold our house! We moved out a week ago and are in a temporary rental until we finish building our house. Operating under Michigan Cottage Food Law does not allow for me to bake out of our rental and let’s be honest-it would be utter chaos moving and moving again with an unknown timeline and equipment-already found out our rental’s oven is not ideal for baking 😉

~I have gone back to work full time for a fantastic local organization-Innovate Marquette SmartZone which also oversees the Invent@NMU program-you may have heard of them! So this past wedding season was bonkers juggling 2 Full Time (and often extra!) jobs! Can you imagine working, baking and moving all at the same time…yeah, it was a blur and I’m still recovering!

~Then most of you know I suffered a back injury 3 years ago followed by surgery 2 years ago to try and fix it-well it helped but only so much. So, going to take a break and work on that. You can’t imagine the wear and tear baking has on the body-the bending, lifting and long hours on your feet takes its toll.

Am I done forever? I don’t know that answer yet. But if and when I do come back, you’ll be the first to know and what the plan will be.

Late on posting as we’ve been moving and had too much to do yesterday…more on that later🤗
Do those bears look familiar??? Yep because the bride herself made these adorable bear toppers for their wedding cake last year and finally got to celebrate will ALL their family and friends! Aubrey and Steve chose centerpiece cakes-yep that’s right-a cake for each table in 4 different designs and also heart krispies, and mini pies in 3 flavors. Can you believe that all fit in my car? Yeah, me neither. 😂🥧🍰

Kalin and Courtney’s special day finally arrived and it couldn’t have been more beautiful! One of my favorite venues-how could you not celebrate love while surrounded by beautiful gardens and water features-a setting of dreams-perfection!

What a perfect day to finally celebrate Rachel and Blayne!!❤️❤️
These two industry folks spend every other weekend helping other couples celebrate but it was finally their turn! (Although they tended bar themselves for a bit so the bartenders could eat!🤗🤣). If you know them, it’s totally in their character to think of others and bring happiness wherever they go!
Congratulations Rachel and Blayne-at long last, I hope you had the ultimate special day!!❤️🧁

Congrats are in order for our good friends Drew and Stacey❤️+❤️!!! Again plans changed for them(more than once!) but you wouldn’t be able to tell!
These two go together like peanut butter and jelly, like fish and chips, like yin and yang-so glad they found each other in this crazy world and make every day more interesting! Cheers to you and can’t wait to see what your future holds!

Everything fell into place for Leah and Joe’s special day-as if it was meant to be all along! And nothing better than to top off the night with cake and cupcakes-lemon vanilla, chocolate salted caramel, vanilla maple bourbon and chocolate espresso. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and for the beautiful backdrop!

Here it is! The wedding cake inspired by the couples engagement ! MANY hours hand painting to get the details just right and only using plant based colors-no artificial dyes here! I used .1868 food coloring and espresso powder mixed with vanilla for the brown-so tasty! Doesn’t it make you want to visit??
Congratulations to Elaine and Jacob, and thank you for sharing your adventures! Many years of love and travel are in your future!

The long awaited celebration for Kali and Cody finally happened yesterday!
This dessert setup couldn’t have been more perfect with so many tasty combinations. They shared an all strawberry cake, vanilla maple cupcakes with maple bourbon buttercream-topped with candied bacon-yep, bacon! Also served were vanilla cupcakes with strawberry buttercream, pistachio cupcakes with salted caramel buttercream and loaded brownies! I swear I could just make loaded brownies all the time and there would be no complaints-they are addictive!
Props to , at first I thought there was no way I’d use all the flowers he left me but I sure did-I’m sure he had the vision and I hopefully lived up to it! Also a shout out to who’s always on top of every detail! Always a pleasure!
Kali and Cody-woohoo and congratulations!! I hope you had the most fun kicking off the next chapter with a bang! Cheers!🥂🧁
