Each year Nixa inducts graduates who have gone on to make a difference in the world and have found success after graduation from Nixa High School.

After graduating from Nixa in 1989, Cheryl (Scott) Huson, advanced her education and earned her undergraduate and masters degrees from Missouri State (or SMS back in the day) and then in 2010 earned her specialist in educational administration.

Mrs. Huson has worked as an English teacher at Republic, and has been the principal at the Glenn Scott SCORE Campus of Nixa High School since 2008.

Mrs. Huson has been influential in the success of the SCORE program with over 600 students graduating from SCORE since its inception in 1998.

She has focused on the mental and behavioral health of all of the students she has impacted, giving them a safe place to be themselves and find success in school. She works to make sure everyone feels welcome.

Her efforts have been awarded by Burrell Behavioral Health with the Youth Mental Health Advocacy Award and also from the Black Tie Gala awards for her work with youth.

From Least of These to other groups supporting those in need or making life better for others, that is where Cheryl will be.
