❓🤨Do you know how to make homemade caramel? Have you ever tried to?
Let me tell you, it is a TEDIOUS process BUT the end results are chef’s kiss 👩🏼🍳💋if you do it right!
🍏Every batch of caramel apples, is made with from scratch caramel.
⏰Each batch takes about 35-40 minutes to properly make. You have to consistently mix it while it cooks at medium heat while STARING at the thermometer to get it to the PERFECT temp! You cannot walk away for a SECOND or it will burn.
🍎If it’s a degree or two off, it’s too soft and will/can slide off your apples. If it’s a degree or two too high, it’ll be hard and too firm causing it to chunk off when biting into the caramel apple and break someone’s tooth🦷 (not my goal as a baker 🤪.
✅That being said, we can only dip 10-12 apples per batch before the caramel starts to set up too much and it doesn’t coat the apples pretty enough to our standard.
🍫Therefore, I always have extra caramel after making every batch. So, what do I do with the extra caramel? This week, I cut and dipped the caramel in milk chocolate and topped with sea salt.
They aren’t pretty but they are AMAZING! 💕
🐷My waistline is about to be MADDDDDD but my belly is SO happy 🤪🤭
