We are so looking forward to our upcoming Fresh Milled Sourdough Class in downton Roswell on September 10th….

What if your loaf started here? 🌾

Not with a bag of flour from the grocery store—but with the whole grain itself.

On Thursday, September 10, I’ll be at Oli + Ve teaching Exploring Fresh-Milled Sourdough—a hands-on journey from grain → flour → starter → dough → beautiful sourdough bread.

We’ll mill whole grains together and explore what makes freshly milled flour so special, how to successfully incorporate it into sourdough, and how to create a loaf with wonderful flavor, texture and rise.

You’ll learn the process hands-on, enjoy some delicious sourdough along the way, and head home with your own sourdough starter so you can continue your journey in your own kitchen.

And you won’t be on your own afterward—I’ll be available the next day to help you through your first loaf. ❤️

Come learn what changes when flour is truly fresh.

Twenty years ago today, Dennis and I began a new chapter in the North Georgia mountains.

We came here because we fell in love with the beauty of these hills. What we didn’t know was how much we would come to love the people.

Over the past 20 years, we’ve watched seasons change, made lifelong friendships, welcomed wonderful neighbors, and discovered a community that believes in supporting one another.

Today, as I build Artisan Heritage Sourdough, I’m reminded that every loaf, every market morning, and every conversation with a customer is part of the story that began here two decades ago.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged us, supported our small business, and shared this journey. Your kindness has meant more than you know.

Here’s to the next chapter—and to continuing to create food that brings people together.

With gratitude,
Sherry

❤️ 20 years. Countless blessings. Endless gratitude.

🌾 Where Great Bread Really Begins

Yesterday I made the trip to Dayspring Farms in Danielsville, Georgia, expecting to purchase organic grain.

Instead, I came home inspired.

I had the privilege of spending several hours with Paula and Murray Brett, owners of Daysprings Farm, the only USDA Certified Organic grain farm in Georgia.

Murray graciously took the time to show me every part of their operation. We walked through the grain bins, the milling room, and he shared the story of how, over the years, he designed and built much of his own equipment. As he talked, I couldn’t help but smile.

I realized our journeys have many parallels.

Like me, he is continually refining his craft—not because he has to, but because he wants to create something better.

One of the things that touched me most was hearing about his own passion for baking. Murray told me he bakes a couple of sourdough loaves every week for his family. He showed me photos of his bread and, like many artisans, he was quick to point out what he wished he had done differently.

I thought his loaves looked beautiful.

Imagine baking bread for your family with organic grain that you personally planted, harvested, and milled. There is something incredibly meaningful about that.

During our conversation, Murray complimented my sourdough, and coming from someone who understands grain from the soil up, that compliment meant more to me than he probably realized.

I had originally come to purchase their Appalachian Hard White Wheat, but Murray encouraged me to take home another of his personal favorites as well—Rouge de Bordeaux, a heritage wheat with a wonderful history and character. I couldn’t resist.

As I loaded the grain into my car, I realized I wasn’t simply bringing home ingredients.

I was bringing home a relationship with the people who grew them.

That relationship matters.

It means I know where my grain comes from. I know the people behind it. I know the care, integrity, and passion that goes into every harvest.

This is the beginning of a journey I’m excited to share with all of you—from Georgia fields…to my bakery…to your family’s table.

Because I believe the best bread begins long before the dough is mixed.

Thank you, Paula and Murray, for your generosity, your hospitality, and for sharing your story with me. I look forward to many years of friendship and learning together.
