You’ve been calling, so here’s the skinny on Passover & Easter:
Orders for Friday and Saturday are now closed, but we are baking furiously. Our plan is to have extras of nearly everything. Check back daily, online or here on social media, to see what’s available.
Online ordering for Friday/Saturday will reopen on Thursday/Friday evenings (respectively). You can also walk up to the door anytime, and see what we have.
Everything from here on out is first-come-first-serve, while supplies last, with no holds, bribes, pulled strings, or pinkie promises. We adore all of you, and will do our level best to make everyone happy.

Pop tarts this week: Brown Sugar Cinnamon. Arguably the best selling flavor of the beloved grocery store line of toaster pastries, it is most certainly the nostalgia favorite for fans of (ahem) a certain age. Butter-and-brown-sugar filling inside a flaky pastry, with cinnamon icing on top. All made from scratch, here. Available all week, while supplies last.

All espresso drinks are back online (and at the door).
Two years ago today, we opened for take-out only. The next day, we were closed. A month later, we offered local delivery of mostly banana bread and produce boxes.
And here we are 2 years later. Our small bakery space is reconfigured, and things are different. Much remains the same, however. We’re handing out baskets of sugar cookies, Guinness cakes, and Irish Soda scones by the boxful. Thanks for sticking with us. 2020 feels a million years ago.

Baskets and boxes of cookies will be available tomorrow and through the weekend, along with individually bagged cookies.
You can order online now, tonight, or in the morning, and we’ll have it ready for you when you check in at our door.
We are sold out of pre-orders for next week, but we’ll keep baking, so please check back frequently to see what’s out of the oven.
Hint: sugar cookies freeze beautifully, so if you want to grab them now for next week, that’s one thing off your list. Wrap and then wrap again in airtight bag or container. Defrost at room temperature for a few hours .

This month we say goodbye to 16 very special Team Butter co-workers, plus one More Than Able Pie Baker. All told, 48 years of Able know-how is leaving the building. Good things ahead for all: college for the first time, in-person classes at last, career pursuits long postponed, new apartments, new ventures, travel. We wish them well, and hope to see them back in a bandana (or not) again.
These folks have kept the coffee pouring, the register ringing, and the pies baking for the last year, and then some. In a year when we COULDN’T hire anyone else, they stepped up and worked through crazy times. It’s a wonder we don’t all have whiplash, the pivots, the panics, the what-nexts. The coming months won’t be the same without them (but that’s a story for another post).
One gal is headed on vacation next week, and she’s “just going to keep going…” She starting in 2011, decorating holiday cookies 2 days a week. She knew a whole lot more than I did about running a bakery. (Thank goodness she put up with me.) She is a tireless source of humor and kitchen wisdom. The architect of 10 Thanksgiving pie-a-thons. She has mentored many amazing bakers. She spins lovely tales and recipes for an audience beyond our little bakery (follow her @nomoremrnicepie). I’m not sure what the kitchen will look like without Ellen, signature knot in her kerchief and running shoes on her feet (where does she find the time?), but we’re about to find out.
