Quick update on my gluten-free starter: she’s on day 10 and I’m attempting my first bake with her this week. She’s bubbly and (I think) happy, so we’ll see what happens. Stay tuned for the debut loaf… and if she’s not quite there yet, you’ll definitely be hearing from me again in the coming weeks. 😅

PS. This apple crisp loaf makes my house smell so damn amazing I could bake it daily. Honestly… you might need one. 😘

Days 1 & 2 of my gluten-free sourdough starter journey.

It’ll be a couple weeks before she’s ready to bake with, but in the meantime… this bubbly little diva needs a name. 💁‍♀️

Current contenders:
• Against the Grain
• Gluten Outta Here
• Rice and Shine

Personally I feel like she’s already developing a personality… slightly dramatic, needs to be fed on a schedule, and gets real bubbly when the attention is right. Honestly? Same.

So… which name are we voting for?

I have been sick as a DOG the last couple of days. 🤧

Naturally, my dad and sister decided that meant my husband should take over the bakery. While the photo of him in his “Blakery” era is adorable… ummm… would not hire. 😘 On the bright side, he is a pretty great caretaker. 10/10 for soup delivery and kid wrangling. 👌🏼

Before the plague took me out, I made some delicious dairy and egg free strawberry sweet rolls (pictured below) and a couple jalapeño cheddar loaves (not pictured because my ADHD + lack of multitasking skills = I fully forgot to snap a photo 🫣).

I’ll be pulling my starter out of its doom-and-gloom fridge era later this week, so if you’d like to place an order, let me know!
