Dear Customers,
We are very sorry and sad to inform you that we are no longer going to be selling at the Court Yard Collective Farmers Market on Tamina on saturdays. We were informed that due to their rules and policies we have been cancelled even though we have paid up until the end of this month and we were about to take our summer break as usual. Their decision was based on the fact that we have to be there every Market rain or shine and because they do not want to upset their customers if we don’t show up.
Our business Model is Bake to order, so at the market our number one priority is to serve our customers a fresh out of the oven product that we proudly prepare over 3 day period and bake same day. If we don’t sell it, we loose on 4 fronts we loose the booth rent, the 3 days worth work hours and the work at the market and we loose the product that won’t be fresh anymore. For that reason we sometimes don’t show up on rainy days or if we believe it could rain.
We apologize that this cost us to loose our spot in the Market and therefore seeing all of you and enjoying interacting with you but there’s no other way we can serve you except by preorders. We realized that our model does not work with Markets especially because they don’t provide fixed structures for vendors and customers to protect them from the elements in a place like Houston where the weather is a big game changer.
We never complained before we still did what we can and what we have to do but this was kind of a slap in the face to realize we need to change our strategy and try something new like preorders / pickup or delivery… so we can still keep serving our customers the good quality products they deserve while still making money.
We believe if our customers still want our products and appreciate them they will support us during good or bad times we go through. If not, we’ve watched enough shark tank episodes to understand that if you do everything you can and the numbers don’t match you have to move on to a different business.
We believe we have a great business and product and we believe our customers will be there to support us. We apologize again for not being there at the Market and for the inconvenience it may cause. It wasn’t our decision or intention but we are sad to hear we were cancelled just like you would be.
Thank you all for your understanding and support. If you need anything please reach out to us ahead so we can be prepared. I bake upstairs in my commercial kitchen so If I have enough preorders I can have them ready for you guys. Please keep in touch, keep A LA TARTE in your thoughts and prayers while we go through this transition and hard times. We are open to your suggestions and advice so reach out at
