A New Chapter Begins…
Opening The Yellow Squirrel Bakery was a lifelong dream come true. I’ve always believed that God gives us the desires of our hearts—and He absolutely did. I’m incredibly thankful for the experience: for the lessons, the laughter, the long hours, the beautiful connections made, and the community that surrounded me with love and support.
As a single woman navigating life and business, I gave it everything I had. But the truth is, the long 16–18 hour days, paired with the challenges of our struggling economy, became too heavy to carry alone. I found myself working nonstop just to barely make ends meet—and missing out on time with the people and things I love most: my boys, my grandchildren, my home, my friends, my life.
This season of owning a bakery will always be one of my most cherished chapters. It was full of purpose, creativity, and community. I’m deeply grateful to every one of you who prayed for me, supported the bakery, listened when I needed a friend, or simply showed up. Your kindness and encouragement have meant more than words can say.
Now, it’s time to turn the page.
God never closes one door without opening another—and once I made the difficult decision to close the bakery, He opened a new path that only He could orchestrate. I’m excited to share that I will be teaching Culinary Arts and Baking at Holmes Community College beginning this month!
This new role allows me to continue doing what I love, while pouring into the lives of others who are just starting their own culinary journeys. I get to teach, mentor, and share the passion that’s been rooted in me since I was a little girl baking with my grandmother.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for walking with me through this beautiful journey. Here’s to new beginnings, restored joy, and purpose-filled days ahead.
With love and gratitude,
Lori
