Sometimes, we see the flag flying at half-staff and know that something important has happened—but we may not always know the story behind it.

Right now, flags are flying at half-staff in memory of Dolly Parton. Her music touched generations, but her generosity and philanthropy made an impact far beyond the stage. President Trump ordered flags to be lowered nationwide through sunset on September 1 in her memory.

We appreciate all of your guesses for our Trivia Time question! Some of you were very close to the correct answer this time! 👏

We had guesses ranging from 300 to 2,175 utility accounts. The correct answer? 984 accounts were processed last month! The number does fluctuate from month to month, but 984 was the total for this round of Trivia Time.

And here's another little fact: 207 customers received their utility bills by email last month! 📧

If you're interested in receiving your utility bill by email, we just need you to complete a quick form. We also offer Automatic Bill Pay as another convenient option! You can pick up either form at City Hall or download them from our website: https://cityofmadisonmn.gov/forms/

The City of Madison has contracted to begin Crack Sealing the week of August 17 and Seal coating/Fog seal work the week of August 24th. Please read through the document for important information regarding parking, sump pumps, etc. If you have questions, please call City Hall. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Public Works staff will be out at dusk spraying for mosquitoes tonight! Woohoo!

The City's Water Department will be jetting sanitary sewer lines throughout Madison over the next few weeks as part of our routine maintenance program.

You may notice a sewer odor inside your home while this work is being done. If you do, simply pour water into any floor drains or other drains that aren't used often, and run water down your sink drains. This helps keep the plumbing traps full and prevents sewer gases from entering your home.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this important maintenance to help keep our sewer system operating efficiently.
