Thank you all for your support and for following along as I ran this little baking business! East Side Cakes is now closed as a formal business.

I have had a great time testing my skills and abilities by seeing how far I could take a home bakery. I reached a point by the end of 2023 where I could continue balancing a busy baking schedule with working full-time, or I could go all-in on baking. Neither of those options felt right for me, so I decided to go with a third option: to close the book on this chapter.

The best part of running East Side Cakes has been meeting you all -- whether you've been a regular customer at markets, whether we've been vendors together celebrating on a successful day or commiserating at a slow market, or whether you found my website and reached out to get desserts for a celebration. I hope you'll continue to support the local, small businesses that are out there doing great work and keeping us fed with delicious food 💙

Over the last three years, I've made almost 4,000 (!) cupcakes for you all -- not to mention all the cookies, bars, sweet breads, and cakes we enjoyed along the way.

And for my Eastmorland neighbors: I will still be at the Eastmorland Outdoor Markets with desserts. I can't entirely give up baking for others, that's for sure.

Come to this weekend and get your baked goods, plus gifts and goodies from a ton of other great vendors!

East Side Cakes will be there Saturday only in the Ironworks building with cupcakes, mini loaves/sweet breads, and some bars. There may be a few festive cupcakes like these in the mix 👀

Happy Small Business Saturday! 🎉 Make sure to go out and support the small businesses that you enjoy having in your community - not just today, but throughout the year.

While I don’t have any promotions or sales today (as I prep for next weekend!), I want to thank all of you who have supported my small business these past few years. The best part of having a small bakery is meeting everyone who tries something I bake 💙

🔹Update: We had been planning to sell baked goods at the Dec. 10 Madison Vegan Holiday Pop-Up, but are no longer able to attend 🙁 There will be another great food vendor in our place - and baked goods by other bakers! - so we still encourage you to attend if you were planning on it.

The last market of the year for East Side Cakes will be the Crafty Fair on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Saturday I’ll be selling baked goods at the Deerfield Christmas in the Country Craft Fair - including the seasonal (and delicious) Cranberry Orange loaf. Also planning to bake these again for the Crafty Fair (Dec. 2) and the Madison Vegan Pop-Up (Dec. 10), so stay tuned!

We are fully in chai/spice season, and I’m taking full advantage of it. I love the taste of these chai cupcakes year-round, but there’s something extra satisfying about them as the weather cools down 🍂

Who’s ready for fall flavors? 🙋🏻‍♀️

These maple cinnamon brown sugar cupcakes are a perfect flavor for cooler fall weather, rivaling any pumpkin spice. I’ll have some with me at the open house event next Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 5-8 pm at the future home of the public market (200 N. First St. at E. Johnson & N. First). Come say hello!

I’m excited to be a vendor at the Sept. 12 Madison Public Market open house event! Taking place outside of the future home of the Madison Public Market, this event is a preview of sorts for the types of businesses that will be at home in the future public market.

The market opens to the public at 5 pm and runs until 8 pm Tuesday, Sept. 12. I’ll be bringing a bit of everything, including fall flavors of cupcakes. Hope to see you there! ✌️
