A sweet little wedding cake that also came out of my kitchen this week. (Didn't want to share until after the wedding). I love doing whimsical cakes, but there's something so satisfying about a well executed classic buttercream cake.

My first Frozen cake. Felt a little out of practice, and halfway through sculpting I remembered why I prefer modeling chocolate over fondant for such things. But the birthday girls loved it and there were smiles all around!

After taking over a year off from cakes, I took the first step at getting back into it this past weekend. A combo party for two of my kiddos was the perfect reason. Kept it simple with a volcano Dino fudge cake, and a Unicorn Ice Cream cake (before I got the unicorn on it!). Kids were happy and it felt good-and a little strange-to be back at it.

I know I haven't posted in months, my cake making has taken a back seat to life. This is my Mom, she's amazing, loving, intelligent and all around the best Mom I could ever ask for. She is the reason I first loved cakes. As a little girl she took a Wilton class and I had a birthday cake that looked like and basket of strawberries, and one year she made me the iconic doll-dress cake, you know where you eat the dress and the doll has no legs! There it is!! Four tier square buttercream with orchids and branches. All edible, and all done! :-)

Today is the day! There is a gorgeous wedding cake awaiting delivery this afternoon......once the wedding has commenced, there will be pictures posted. Believe me, you will not be disappointed! ;-)
