Some clients become so much more than an order form and invoice. They become part of your story📖

A few years ago, we had the honor of serving Courtney and Colton Fox for their wedding. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of continuing to celebrate alongside them through anniversary cakes, gender reveal cakes, countless pastry orders, and so many sweet milestones in between.

This week, in the middle of packing up their lives and preparing to move 800+ miles away for an incredible new opportunity God has placed before their growing family, they reached out for “one last cake and pastry box for the road.” And honestly… I can’t get over that.🥺

In the chaos of moving, they thought of us one more time before leaving Lynchburg. To me, that speaks volumes.

Not about cake.
Not about pastries.
Not even about customer service.

It speaks to the genuine relationships we strive to build with every single person who walks through our doors. Our clients are never just numbers, transactions, or sales opportunities to us. They are people with stories, families, dreams, goals, celebrations, heartbreaks, and milestones. One of my favorite parts of what we do is truly getting to know the people we serve. Over the years, these relationships become so much bigger than business.

So while I am incredibly sad to see Courtney and Colton leave Lynchburg, I am even more excited for them. Excited to watch God move in their lives. Excited for this next adventure and chapter ahead for their family.

Courtney and Colton — thank you. Thank you for supporting our small bakery. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of serving you, celebrating alongside you, and getting to know you beyond the orders. Thank you for letting us be a tiny part of your story over these past few years.

We are cheering you on from Lynchburg and cannot wait to hear about all the incredible things God does for your family.

See you later — and safe travels ♥️

Admin days: where the to-do list is long, the emails are longer… and somehow the muffin disappears first.

Today’s office looks a little different—traded my desk for a cozy corner, a steaming mug of house-roasted dark roast, and a (very necessary) muffin from Sweet Indulgence. If productivity had a flavor, I’m pretty sure this would be it.

I came in hoping to make a dent in the never-ending admin list (you know the one), and to meet with a colleague—but let’s be honest, the real MVPs here are caffeine and carbs.

But on a more meaningful note—this is exactly why I love supporting local, especially the businesses we partner with. Mission House isn’t just a place to grab great coffee (fully stocked with Sweet Indulgence pastries—yes, even the croissants behind those breakfast sandwiches). It’s a space I personally use for all the things—focused workdays, client meetings, collaborative conversations, and even those moments where I just need to sit, breathe, and catch up with a friend.

There’s something special about a place that can hold all of that. The atmosphere, the flexibility, even the extra space next door when you need a quieter corner—it all makes a difference.

So here’s to local spots that fuel more than just our caffeine habits. They support our work, our relationships, and our communities in ways that matter more than we sometimes realize.

At Sweet Indulgence Bakery, we often talk about rebuilding—about what it looks like for women to step into healing, stability, and new beginnings after surviving domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Our bakery exists to provide that space. But the strength of this place truly comes from the women who show up for each other every day.

Right now, one of the women who quietly carries so much of that weight needs our support.

Our bakery manager recently had emergency surgery and will be out of work for several weeks while she recovers. Like many people, she relies on her paycheck for everyday life, and this unexpected time away from work has created a real financial strain.

If you know Sweet Indulgence, you likely know her already—whether through an order she helped coordinate, a problem she solved behind the scenes, or the steady presence that keeps our bakery running. When I had major surgery four weeks ago and couldn’t be at the bakery, she stepped in without hesitation and made sure our clients were cared for and our doors stayed open.

When I’m working full time, she’s my right hand. During this season, she has truly been my entire right side.

A year ago, when the bakery was facing one of its hardest seasons and the possibility of closing, she didn’t step back—she stepped up. She took on more responsibility, brought creative ideas, helped us find new clients, and worked tirelessly to keep Sweet Indulgence moving forward. Her commitment has never just been about a job—she has poured her time, creativity, and heart into this place and the women who work here.

Our community has always been generous in showing up for the women of this bakery, and many of you ask how you can support the staff directly. This is one of those moments.

If you’re able, we invite you to support her during recovery so she can focus on healing without the stress of lost income. Every contribution, share, and word of encouragement makes a difference.

Thank you for continuing to stand with the women of Sweet Indulgence—and today, for standing with one of the women who has spent so much time standing for everyone else.

One of the most important women behind Sweet Indulgence needs our community right now.

Ashlyn, our bakery manager, had emergency surgery and will be out of work for several weeks while she recovers. She’s been the steady force helping keep things running for our team and the women here.

Watch this quick video to share a little more about her and why we started a GoFundMe. If you have a minute, please watch and consider supporting or sharing.

Just popping in with a quick update and a HUGE, icing-covered THANK YOU! 🍩✨

I have been absolutely overwhelmed (in the best way) by the love and support you all have shown while I’m recovering. From continuing to order, to supporting our team, to the sweet check-ins and messages — you guys are the real MVPs.

It’s incredibly humbling to see how many amazing people God has woven into our story. We truly don’t take it for granted.

Now let’s talk about the important stuff… dessert. 🎂

If you’ve got an event coming up, a meeting that needs bribing (we don’t judge), or you’re suddenly struck with a sweet craving emergency 🍰🚨 — click the link in our bio to see our current sweets lineup!

And stay tuned… this weekend we’re expanding the menu to include pies, cheesecakes, cookies, and bars. Basically, stretchy pants season is upon us.

We love you all more than butter loves sugar. And that’s saying a lot. 💛
