My daughter Emma and niece Meda helped make funfetti cupcakes for her sister Amelia’s birthday this past weekend. They were a lot of fun decorating!

Another popular treat my grandmother made were “cream puffs”! My mom carried on this tradition and we beg her to make these each time we get together.

These cream puffs are bite size and filled with a homemade rich vanilla pudding drizzled with chocolate. We often like to fill them with whipped cream or even chocolate pudding but my preference is the homemade vanilla pudding.

This classic rich and creamy cheesecake made with a graham cracker crust was made for my daughter, Emma’s birthday this year. Strawberry sauce was provided as a topping.

One of my fondest memories was baking cookies in the kitchen with my grandmother. My brother and I spent countless hours visiting with her as she lived only a mile down the road from our house. It seemed that every time we went to stay with my grandparents I would beg her to make Molasses cookies.

Molasses cookies are among the one of the favorites at our house. This handwritten recipe from my grandmother makes approximately 2 dozen cookies. Since they disappear so quickly at our house, I usually double the recipe.

These spices cookies are soft and chewy laced with cinnamon and cloves, sweetened with molasses and dusted with sugar. This recipe was also made with raisins at times, which my dad preferred.

January 17th would have been my grandmother, Mary Kelly’s 98th birthday.

I’d like to take this month to honor her memory by making some of her tried and true recipes which were handed down to my mom and then to me. My grandmother was an inspiration in our lives daily but more specifically she, along with my mom inspired me to learn how to bake from scratch in the kitchen.

Chocolate Chip Banana bread typically was made with walnuts but my kids enjoy substituting with chocolate chips.

Spent some time baking this week. Caels birthday was the 17th and an order from a local. Hershey’s chocolate cupcake with vanilla cream frosting and white almond flavored cupcake with lemon curd and buttercream frosting.
