Homemade marshmallows are setting in the fridge, dinner is done, pressure canner is getting ready to go, dishwasher is going, and Brady is sitting at the back door watching Liam play in the back yard while sipping on some homemade cranberry juice I canned a few months back.

If you had shown me 10 years ago that this is what my life would look like now I would have LAUGHED in your face..🤣

Soooo grateful for change. Grateful for good examples and endless opportunities to learn more! Grateful that I have the opportunity to serve my family 😭❤️

Well… the toddler’s cold made its way through the house and landed on me last.

No stand this week while I get my lungs back in order. Thank you for your patience — it means more than you know.

Have the sweetest Valentine’s weekend.

📣 Pre-Orders Open | Drive-Up Pickup This Week

Due to the cold weather this week, and to keep everyone warm, safe, and comfortable while also protecting food quality, we’ll be doing pre-orders only again this week with drive-up pickup.

Pre-orders are open now, and the full menu with pricing is available on the order form.

🚗 Pickup details

You’ll stay in your car and pull up by the mailbox, and either my husband or I will bring your order out to you. No standing outside in the cold.

Pickup options:
• Friday evening
• Saturday

Pickup times are scheduled by the hour. Please message me when you’re on your way with an ETA or when you arrive so I know who to expect and what to bring out.

🥖 This week’s highlights include:

• Super soft sourdough sandwich bread
• Sourdough chocolate cake (more like a lava cake because it’s so moist)
• Pickled jalapeño cheddar sourdough
• Jumbo sourdough cookies
• Plus other options listed on the menu

🎁 Free sample with every pre-order

Just like last week, every pre-order will include a free sample of something new I’ve been wanting to test. It will be sweet and will contain pecans.

⚠️ If you have a pecan allergy, please share the sample with someone else or message me ahead of time (or note it in your pre-order) so I can replace it with a different item.

When selecting your pickup time, please keep the cold weather in mind! It is supposed to rain and then freeze so roads could have some ice.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask 🤍
Thank you so much for continuing to support my little stand and for being flexible with the weather.

✨ NEW THIS WEEK — SUPER SOFT SOURDOUGH SANDWICH BREAD ✨

Y’all… I am so excited about this one.
I tested a super soft sourdough sandwich bread and it is hands-down some of the best bread I’ve ever made. The crumb is insanely soft, the flavor is perfect, and it makes the dreamiest sandwiches and toast.

So excited, in fact, that anyone who placed a preorder today is getting a FULL-SIZE sample loaf with their order 🥹🤍
(No, not a slice — a whole loaf.)

My husband already ate half a loaf by himself last night, which is how I knew this one was a winner. Thank goodness I made two for us.

One quick note: I will be upgrading to larger bread bags because these loaves are BIG and soft, so they may look a little snug in the bags this week — bear with me 😅

I have a feeling this bread is about to become a weekly thing around here, and I cannot wait for y’all to try it.

❄️ Weather reminder: With the winter storm moving through our area, the stand will NOT be open tomorrow. Please stay safe, stay warm, and don’t get out unless you have to.

Your homemade bread isn’t going to taste like store-bought bread.
And that’s the point.

Store-bought bread is engineered to be ultra soft, ultra light, and “fresh” for way longer than bread naturally stays fresh. Homemade bread is real food. It has a shorter shelf life, it stales faster, and it tastes like… actual bread.

Here’s the kind of stuff commercial bakeries often use to keep bread pillowy and slow down staling:
• Enriched flour (bleached)
• High fructose corn syrup or corn syrup solids
• Added “vital wheat gluten” to change texture
• Soy flour
• Vegetable oils (soybean/canola)
• Mono- and diglycerides
• DATEM (dough conditioner/emulsifier)
• Calcium propionate (mold inhibitor/preservative)
• Sodium stearoyl lactylate (emulsifier)
• Polysorbate 60/80 (emulsifier)
• Azodicarbonamide (flour treatment agent)
• Potassium bromate (dough strengthener)
• Ammonium sulfate (dough conditioner)
• Calcium sulfate (dough conditioner)
• Enzymes (amylase, fungal enzymes, etc.)
• “Natural flavors” (a mystery category all its own)
• Added gums (guar gum, xanthan gum)
• Soy lecithin
• Added conditioners and “improvers”

So if you bake a loaf at home with flour, water, salt, yeast (or sourdough starter), maybe a little honey or butter… it’s going to be different. It might be a little denser. It might have a real crust. It might not stay squishy for 10 days.

And honestly? That’s the re-learning.

Sometimes baking at home means we have to retrain our taste buds to remember what real food tastes like when it hasn’t been optimized for shipping, shelf life, and “perfect texture.”

Homemade bread isn’t meant to live on your counter for two weeks.
It’s meant to feed your people today.

👋 Friendly reminder!

Pre-orders close tomorrow evening for Friday pickup, and I’d hate for anyone to miss out 💛

Also… 👀 most (but really probably all) orders will be getting a free full-size sample of a new item I’m testing. All I ask is for a little feedback 🤍

I’ll post once more again right before orders are closed!

🐣 Hatch day over here 🐣

Most of you usually see sourdough and baked goods on this page, but I wanted to share a little peek at what else is happening behind the scenes as we lean more into a micro homestead 🌾

Today is hatch day, and we’ve got quail chicks actively pipping and hatching. One of them currently has half an eggshell stuck on its head… total egghead moment 🤍😂
As hard as it is not to jump in and help, I can’t open the incubator right now without risking the lives of the chicks that haven’t hatched yet. Nature knows what it’s doing, even when it makes us laugh.

Watching new life come into the world never gets old, especially getting to experience it with my son. It’s one of those simple, grounding moments that reminds me why I love this lifestyle so much.

These chicks are hatching from our own mixed quail flock, and I already have several dozen spoken for, so I’m expecting a strong hatch. Depending on final numbers, there will be quail chicks available for pickup over the next couple of days.

💛 Quail chick pricing:
• $4 per chick
• $3.50 each when buying 6 or more
• $3 each when buying 12 or more

Pickup will be coordinated once the hatch finishes and chicks are dry, strong, and doing well.

From bread, to quail, to teaching my kid where food and life actually come from… it’s messy, it’s busy, and it’s so worth it.

If you’ve ever thought about keeping quail, or you’re just curious about what we’re building here, feel free to ask questions in the comments or send me a message 🐥
And if you’re here just for the bread, don’t worry… that’s not going anywhere 😉

🧠🍞 A little sourdough tip I wanted to share 🍞🧠

If you bought sourdough from me this weekend, or if you plan to in the future, I wanted to share one of my favorite ways to store it, especially if you ever end up with extra.

🍞 This is real sourdough
It’s long fermented, preservative free, and made the slow way. Because of that, it doesn’t love sitting on the counter forever. But it does love the freezer.

❄️ Here’s exactly what I do
I pre slice the loaf, lay the slices out like this, and let them flash freeze for an hour or two. Once they’re frozen, I stack them back into loaf shape and store them in a freezer bag.

🔥 When I want a slice
I grab one straight from the freezer and put it right into the toaster or oven. No thawing needed at all.

✨ The cool science part
Freezing and then toasting sourdough can increase resistant starch, which can be easier on digestion and blood sugar. So it’s not only still delicious this way, it can actually be better for you too.

💛 The best part
The texture stays great, the flavor holds beautifully, and nothing goes to waste.

So if you ever buy an extra loaf, or want to stock up next time, don’t stress. This bread freezes really well, and this is exactly how I do it at home.
