Seeing my youngest son cross the stage at his 5th-grade graduation brought tears to my eyes. It is the most rewarding experience to pour into my children, but this milestone feels especially deep because of the journey we took to get here.
Early on, my son absolutely loved school. In kindergarten and 1st grade, he was a vibrant staple in his classrooms. Everyone knew him, and his love for learning was infectious.
Then came 2nd grade. He experienced a classroom dynamic that wasn’t the right fit for his learning style. Almost overnight, I watched that bright spark in his eyes begin to dwindle. One morning, I went to wake him up, and he broke down crying, telling me he didn’t want to go to school.
As a mother and an educator, that moment broke my heart and ignited my mission.
I refused to let a misaligned educational experience extinguish his natural curiosity. I knew I had to step in and take action to protect his love for learning, which ultimately led our family to the decision to transition back into homeschooling. It allowed me to give him the personalized, nurturing environment he needed to thrive again.
That exact passion is what drives everything I do today. Whether I am teaching my own children at home, guiding students through a creative decorating class, or teaching the science of baking, I bring that same fierce dedication. My goal is to help every single learner keep their sparkle, maintain their curiosity, and experience that magical moment when they discover a new ability.
