Hey y’all! What a fun weekend.

Thanks for coming with Dark Elisa and me for a few days. I got to rock my little country heart out at Emo Nite with at . Then, I got to jump into a new thing and meet a bunch of often new people at the Pi(e) Fest. And last but not least, I got to take my brand new overalls and a piece of my Apron Fashion Show prize for a little spin at Disneyland. Don’t worry, I held on to it extra tight when I rode Big Thunder.

It’s nice to be able to come out of the bakery for a little while. Things have been so busy lately, it’s hard to find the time to get out there and be a part of the scene. That’s why when I can do it, I like to make sure I bring all of y’all with me. HAPPY PI(E) DAY PLUS ONE Y’ALL!! Sorry I was quiet for the occasion, but I think I had a pretty darn good reason. You see, I got the chance to take part in my first-ever KCRW Pie Fest! It was such an inspiration to spend my Saturday surrounded by so many talented and dedicated baking pros from all over Southern California.

While I didn’t earn a ribbon this time around, I was incredibly proud of all my contributions, and I was able to spread some “Fresh Baked Love” at the Autry Museum while making a few new friends along the way. Plus, I don’t want to toot my own horn or anything, but I pretty much tore the house down in the apron fashion show and brought home an awesome swag bag from KCRW! All in all, a pretty good day by my standards. 😄

Enjoy a few snapshots from the full day of sun and fun! Including the only thing better than any ribbon I could receive - three completely empty pie dishes.

Hey y’all! A very happy Valentine’s Day to you.

Just wanted to share a few moments from another little party this weekend - my birthday! I celebrated turning 29 yet again with my forever valentine, Mr. Marie. He took me to a beautiful lunch at , where I also picked out a few essential plants to take home with me. Then, we spent the evening at Fashion Island for a little more shopping and a few rounds of martinis and truffle fries at . Girl dinner? Yes please! Finally, we came home for some late-night Star Trek TNG and some celebratory burps and t***s from my absolutely legitimate son and permanent doggy Valentine, Manny.

I hope that however you’re spending this Valentine’s weekend, you’re surrounded by the things and people you love. Hey y’all! I hate to toot my own horn, but I’m feeling pretty proud of what’s coming out of my kitchen lately. Valentine’s Day is a special time for EMB. For one thing, it’s when I get to buy most of my props and decorating for the year. But even more importantly, it’s all about LOVE! With a slogan like “Fresh Baked Love”, it’s hard not to be excited for it.

Hey y’all! Long time no talk! 

I hope you’ve had a wonderful start to the new year. As for me, I’m still a little stuck in 2025. Don’t get me wrong, my team and I are still hard at work turning out the “Fresh Baked Love” all over SoCal. I just got to go home for the holidays for the first time in just under a decade. And whenever I come back, it always feels like a little piece of my soul stays there longer than the rest of me. Call it “roots”, or “tradition”, or “I left my earbuds at the Tulsa Cracker Barrel” - but whatever it is, I find that the only real answer for it is in the kitchen.

So I’ve been running through all my old familiar comfort foods this month, much to the delight of Mr. Marie I’m sure. Sky high buttermilk biscuits with thick country gravy, which I make a little spicier than it was when I grew up. Slow cooked beans over crumbled cornbread (without a GRANULE of sugar please), and good old dirty rice, my delicious budget-stretcher meal of choice. Each dish is special because each one brings me right back home. That’s the magic of food for me; the magic that I try to pour into every last bite of EMB.

But despite the tugging at my heartstrings, it’s time to look ahead to a new year full of possibilities and potential for growth. My wheels are already running, and I can’t wait to see where this crazy little country bakery is going to end up next. One thing’s for sure though; I’m going to take every last little itty bitty bit of my past with me.
