Two years ago today, October 19th, I opened the doors to Nicola’s Heavenly Cucina inside the Lockport Metra train station. ❤️🎂
I fell in love with this cozy little train station the moment I walked in. There’s something about its history, its charm, and the warmth you feel inside that just makes you want to stay awhile. It felt like the perfect home for my bakery, and two years later, walking through those doors still gives me that same feeling.
What a journey these two years have been. So much trial and error, early mornings, long nights, and blood, sweat, and tears. Owning a business has challenged me in ways I never imagined. There have been mistakes, hard lessons, moments of doubt—and so many moments that remind me why I started.
This little bakery has become so much more than a place to buy bread and coffee. It’s become a place for familiar faces, friendships, and a community I’m so grateful to be part of.
To everyone who has walked through our doors, shared a post, recommended us, left a kind review, or brought a friend: THANK YOU. Every bit of your support has helped this dream grow. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you.
And to my wonderful staff: thank you for your hard work, your heart, and everything you do to help this bakery grow. You’re such an important part of this story, and I’m so grateful to have you beside me.
