For those who don’t know me personally, this summer my family traveled to Sweden. My husband’s paternal grandfather was born there and was the only one of his siblings to move to the US. In 2019 we were contacted by some of his Swedish cousins and decided to go visit. It was an absolutely amazing trip and we fell in love with Sweden.
One amazing custom they have there is called “Fika”. Fika is a Swedish cultural tradition that means taking a deliberate pause to enjoy a hot drink and a snack, usually with friends, family, or coworkers.
I bought an amazing Fika cookbook while we were there and last night attempted my first recipe. A cookie called “Dreams” which we had bought at the Vasa museum in Stockholm.
While they didn’t turn out exactly as I hoped, they are quite tasty and even better with a dollop of homemade raspberry jam.
Thinking of all of our Swedish cousins!!!
