See those little green flecks in this bread? Basil. Fresh, vibrant, summery basil. What you can't see, but what is just as wonderful is the latticework of parmesan throughout this loaf. My husband and I stood at the counter, each munching on our own slice and nodding to each other. Yes, this bread is a keeper! On the menu for the first time this week.

Happy birthday, Slice and Spread!

Now that Slice and Spread is officially one year old, I feel like I can lay aside the question, "Can I bake bread to sell?" and pick up the question, "What do I want this little business to be?"

One of the ideas that keeps coming to mind is 'community.' I'm thankful for all of you who have made Slice and Spread possible over the past year, and I'm thinking about ways to bless and give back to the community of Lino Lakes and the surrounding area.

Answer: Brown Sugar Pecan Swirl Sourdough!
