🌼Summer of the Little Sioux Presents: A Riverside Chat with Buena Vista County Conservation Director Greg Johnson!

🎣Join us at the Linn Grove Campground for a discussion about the Linn Grove Dam!

Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30PM at The Linn Grove Dam Campground, Linn Grove IA!

A brief history of the dam and surrounding property will be discussed as well as the archaeology site found during the campground development. The flood events of 2018/2019 and 2024 will be discussed as well. Learn what has happened to FEMA aid since 2019 as well as the long term plan/design and how it would be beneficial to the public and wildlife/fisheries.

This will be a community based discussion and attendees are expected to show respect to speakers as well as other attendees.

Greg was born and raised in Cherokee, Iowa along the Little Sioux River. This is where he gained his passion for the natural and cultural resources of the river valley. Johnson graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Environmental Science then obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from South Dakota State University in Rangeland Ecology and Habitat Management. Greg worked for Cherokee County Conservation Board for 5 years as a Conservation Technician after college, mainly working on habitat restoration projects and maintaining the parks that the County controlled. Johnson has been the Director of the Buena Vista County Conservation Board since 2015, where he has continued to promote and help improve the natural and cultural resources of the Little Sioux River Valley.

So we had a very large branch that fell in our yard. Spent all day yesterday cleaning up all of it except the main branch. I needed a better chainsaw to cut up the rest of it.

Someone came by today, not sure who, and cut it up…ALL of the good fire wood is GONE. I did not authorize ANYONE to remove ANYTHING from my yard.

I’d appreciate whomever took it to return it as it is A LOT and I had plans for its use.
