A Spudly donut + a mug of Perk is the morning 🍩☕

here’s the situation. we make a from-scratch potato donut that tastes like dessert. our friends down the road at Perk make caffeinated cocoa that also tastes like dessert (100mg caffeine, protein, zero sugar crash, all hug). between the two of us we’ve basically retired the breakfast vegetable

warm donut, warm mug, both made right here in Utah County, dunk if you’re brave

researchers at Harvard, and at least one extremely confident person at Stanford, will tell you a from-scratch potato donut is basically engineered to hold a scoop. we have not read the study. we just know

grab a box, take it home, warm a donut for a few seconds, drop a scoop on top and watch it melt into the powdered sugar like it was always meant to be there

We said we’d be up. We were up. The Spuds have been kettle-frying since an hour that doesn’t technically exist yet, and the donuts are fresh-fresh, the kind of fresh you only get by, you know, actually frying them this morning

This month’s seasonal is a S’mores donut, and it’s more popular than your (insert your favorite thing here)

Monday’s basically over, we checked. The not-Monday starts in a few hours (that’s Tuesday, for the literal among us)

We can’t hand you a from-scratch potato donut at 11pm. We sleep, occasionally. But we’ll be up before you, kettle-frying a fresh batch while you’re still negotiating with your alarm

So set the intention now. Tomorrow: you, a donut, a genuinely great not-Monday

Ever wonder why a donut has a hole? 🍩 Donut History Episode 77 is here to help (if you know how to read):

Short version: it’s function, not decoration. Old school fried dough cooked up great on the outside but stayed raw and gummy in the middle, so someone got smart and punched out the center, more edges, even cooking, no sad doughy core

Legend credits a Maine sea captain named Hanson Gregory, who poked out the middle of his fried cakes back in the 1840s to fix exactly that, and the ring donut never looked back

Here’s the best part, the piece they punched out didn’t get tossed, it became its own little icon, the donut hole!

Ours are those exact centers (well not from 1840, ours are fresh daily), same mashed potato dough, golden fried and glazed until they’re dangerously poppable

So the hole has a backstory, and the leftover became a legend 🍩 cool right? The answer is yes now go tell your friends and your enemies about Spudly Donuts in Lindon + Lehi
