🐾 HENRY’S OFFICIAL RECOVERY UPDATE 🐾

Hello. Henry here.

I realize it has been some time since my last report. This is because management has become increasingly difficult to supervise.

First, she is now bending the new knee to 110 degrees.

Apparently this is very exciting. There was crying. There were hugs. There were high fives. I remained calm because someone in this household needs to maintain professional standards.

She is also walking around the house without the knee sleeve sometimes. WITH the cane, mostly, although I have personally witnessed several unauthorized steps without it.

I have filed the appropriate paperwork.

She continues to attend physical therapy, where people push on her leg, stretch things, and occasionally attack her with what appears to be a massage gun. She complains loudly about all of this and then goes back voluntarily.

Humans are baffling.

There has also been water therapy. At one point they apparently left her in the tank long enough that she had to summon assistance.

I was not present.

This would not have happened under my supervision.

Meanwhile, she has been outside. She's been in the garden. She's been checking on the chickens. She's been cooking. She's been baking. She's even been wandering around without the cane for short stretches.

In other words, we have entered the dangerous phase of recovery known as:

“I feel pretty good, so perhaps I should do 47 things.”

I am monitoring the situation closely.

Overall assessment: the human is doing very well.

Still slow. Still working. Still occasionally swearing at the knee.

But stronger every week.

I am proud of her.

Do not tell her I said that.

🚨 FROM THE DESK OF HENRY 🚨

I would like to formally announce that BREAD WAS BAKED TODAY.

Actual sourdough. In the actual kitchen. By the actual baker.

We are still a long way from firing From Grain to Bread completely back up. She’s slow. She takes a lot of breaks. There’s a cane involved now. And apparently baking one loaf of bread is currently considered a major athletic event.

But look at that loaf. 👀

The oven was on. The starter was bubbling. Flour was flying.

Bread happened.

We’re coming back. Slowly. One loaf at a time. ❤️

Henry's Recovery Report – Week 5 🐾

Good news, friends... I think my human is finally turning a corner.

She had physical therapy today and bent her knee to 92° (maybe even a little more!), and she's moving around the house a bit more like herself. She still says her knee feels like it's wrapped in leather, but she isn't making quite as many dramatic faces when she stands up. That's progress.

Which means I've been promoted from Full-Time Emotional Support Pug to Part-Time Supervisor. It's a much easier job.

We're still taking it one day at a time. There are good moments and frustrating moments, but this week feels different. A little more hopeful.

🐾 Henry's Homestead Report 🐾

Well... the Human finally wandered into the kitchen this morning. ☕

I was beginning to think coffee was extinct.

She even made breakfast all by herself! (I supervised, of course. It's important someone keeps an eye on the peanut butter toast.)

The feathered ladies are busy doing mysterious chicken business, and the tiny striped creature has decided this is her couch now. I'm still evaluating that situation.

The Human says she's feeling a little less stiff today. I don't really know what that means, but she smiled a lot more this morning, so I think that's good.

Until then, I'll continue my important duties: 🐾 Following her everywhere. 🐾 Supervising naps. 🐾 Making sure no toast goes uneaten. 🐾 Keeping the kitten humble.

All in all... I'd say today gets four paws up. ❤️

🐾 Henry's Recovery Report 🐾

Well...

Mom says I'm supposed to be keeping everyone updated.

Personally, I think I've been carrying this operation.

I've supervised approximately:
🐔 47 chicken patrols.
🛋️ 18 couch inspections.
🍞 Countless quality-control opportunities that I have, quite unfairly, been excluded from.

Mom is working harder every day. She keeps bending that knee, walking with that noisy rolling contraption, and muttering things like, "Come on... just a little more."

I don't really understand it.

If something hurts, my strategy is to dramatically flop onto the couch and stare at people until snacks appear.

It has an excellent success rate.

She says she's getting stronger, though. I believe her. She smiles a little more every day, and I have a feeling it won't be long before she's back out checking on "her girls" and making the bakery smell amazing, which is by far both of our favorite parts.

Until then, I'll continue my very important supervisory duties...
..from the leather recliner.

🐾 Henry's Father's Day Report

The Chicken Committee and I would like to wish a Happy Father's Day to the Tall Person.

While the human recovers, he has bravely accepted many important responsibilities, including:

✔ Grocery procurement
✔ Dinner preparation
✔ Coffee delivery
✔ Emergency chicken retrieval

The attached surveillance footage documents one such retrieval operation.

As you can see, the Tall Person was forced into a high-speed pursuit after certain members of the Chicken Committee declined to cooperate.

His dedication to the flock, the bakery, and this slightly chaotic household has not gone unnoticed.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, bonus dads, and father figures out there.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I must continue reviewing security footage.

🐾 Management Update

The human has temporarily stepped away to install a new knee.

In her absence, I have assumed responsibility for all critical operations.

This morning's inspection revealed:

✔ Chickens present
✔ Coop present
✔ Yard present
✔ Squirrels under observation

Everything appears to be in order.

I will continue my patrol and updates from the back porch.

Well friends, it's time for me to take a little pause.

This Monday I'll be having knee replacement surgery, and while I'm looking forward to getting back to doing all the things I love, but it means From Grain to Bread will be taking a break while I focus on recovery.

At this point, I don't know exactly when I'll be back in the kitchen. My goal is to heal well, regain my mobility, and return when I can safely give baking the attention it deserves.

I know we say this ad nausea, but we can't begin to express how grateful we are for your support, encouragement, and every loaf, muffin, cinnamon roll, and dozen eggs you've welcomed into your homes. This little bakery has become something very special because of all of you.

We continue to share updates along the way, and when the ovens are heating up again, you'll be among the first to know.

🌾 A Little Update from From Grain to Bread 🌾

Friends,

I've been dealing with some ongoing knee and mobility issues, and I've learned that sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down and give our bodies the time they need to heal.

Because of that, I'll be scaling back bakery operations for a little while.

I'm still happy to take occasional orders, but I won't be hosting my regular Wednesday pickup schedule for the time being. If you'd like to place an order, just send me a message and we'll work out pickup details together. Please don't hesitate to order, I still want to keep my baking skills on point!

If you'd like to sample some of my baked goods, I'll be bringing a few treats to the Red Deer Art Show on Saturday, June 6. I'd love to see some familiar faces there! Ask me for details!

Thank you all for your support, encouragement, and kindness as I've grown From Grain to Bread. This little bakery isn't going anywhere—I'm simply taking a slower pace while I focus on getting back on my feet.

🌾 From Grain to Bread Bakery Update 🌾

Just a little Monday note to let everyone know that the bakery will be taking this week off for a bit of rest, planning, and preparation behind the scenes. Don't worry, though, Henry is hard at work guarding his hens. 💛

While there won’t be orders this week, there are some really good things slowly rising in the background over here, and I’m incredibly grateful for all of your support, encouragement, and patience as this little bakery continues to grow.

I’ll be back soon with fresh sourdough (think oniony and cheesy), cozy bakes, and hopefully some exciting updates to share along the way. 🥖🐓
