Ligonier Community Coffee House A community Coffee House at the Barn in Ligonier, PA, the third Friday of every month, November through May, 7 PM. Proceeds benefit Valley Youth Network.

The Community Coffee House at The Barn on Springer Road in Ligonier, PA is held the third Friday of every month, October through May, at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:15 PM with dessert and coffee available beginning at 6:45 PM. Well-known local musicians are featured monthly. Local churches provide the desserts, and all proceeds benefit the community youth ministry, Valley Youth Network.

The Ligonier Community Coffee House ends its 2025-2026 season on Friday, May 15th. It has been an amazing season, and plans are to end it with a bang-up evening of entertainment! The Coffee House has been an area favorite for over twenty-three years. Each evening has a variety of five or six outstanding stage performances and a great selection of delicious desserts!

The Coffee House is held in the spacious country elegance of “The Barn at Ligonier Valley”, a popular venue for weddings, parties, and other celebrations and meetings! It is spacious and comfortable and a perfect spot for the Coffee House. It is located at 1 Springer Road in Ligonier. Parking is free and convenient. The dessert and beverage bar opens at 6:15 pm and the music starts at 7:00 pm. Come early for the best seats!

The entertainment for the evening includes:

String Tyme - Jeff Bell and Amy Clark are a musical bluegrass duo from Ligonier and Coffee House favorites. Amy’s heartfelt vocals and lyrical autoharp melodies mesh perfectly with Jeff’s guitar, banjo, and ukulele rhythms. Their music and banter are always entertaining! As a special treat, Pam Mulhollem, another Coffee House favorite, is joining them on vocals.

John Larimer - From Somerset, John has been playing music since high school. He has played with a Somerset Classic Rock band, "Whitehorse" for over 30 years in addition to picking bluegrass on occasion and performing solo. John travels with his guitar which has given him opportunities to play in Greece, Turkey, Cambodia and Vietnam, and to perform on a cruise ship with Kenny Loggins! He has written a number of songs (including "He Said Yes", which tells the story of the Quecreek Mine rescue) and currently is in studio putting a project together including a variety of some of older and newer songs he has written.

Hanna Newell - A newcomer to our Coffee House, Hannah is a local fiddle player specializing in energetic Old Time and Celtic style music. She picked up a wide range of tunes while living in South Carolina, Missouri, Vermont, and Pennsylvania. Besides playing at local open mic nights and jams, Hannah has twice played for the Greensburg Summer Sounds concert series and at various other venues and events around the Pittsburgh area. Her first solo album is soon to be released on streaming services!

Mr. Jones & The Diva - Carl & Susan Jones, a very entertaining acoustic guitar duo from Ligonier, that performs pop, rock, and country music from a variety of major artists from the 50’s to today. They are sought after performers who have performed at many venues including Puckett’s in Nashville, Seven Springs Resort, Ft. Ligonier Days, and numerous restaurants and wineries throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Hickory Bottom - Tight harmonies, solid pickin', and lots of fun are the hallmarks of this award-winning Bluegrass band from Bedford, PA. Every member has a rich musical history in a variety of genres ranging from well-known or obscure Bluegrass classics to grassy versions of radio hits. The requested donations have not increased since the first Coffee House 23 years ago: $5 at the door, $2 per dessert, and $1 per beverage. Only cash can be accepted. The Ligonier Community Coffee House continues its 2026 season on Friday, April 24th. The outstanding music, desserts and venue have made this one of the best seasons ever and this month is planned to continue at that level! The Coffee House has been a community favorite for over twenty-three years and now attracts attendees and performers from far and wide! Each evening has five or six very entertaining stage performances by individuals and groups and offers a nice selection of delicious desserts and beverages.

The Coffee House is held in the spacious country elegance of the “The Barn at Ligonier Valley”, a popular venue for weddings, parties, and other celebrations and meetings! It is spacious and comfortable and a perfect spot for the Coffee House. It is located at 1 Springer Road in Ligonier. Parking is free and convenient. The entertainment for the evening includes:

Beg 2 Differ – A Pittsburgh based acoustic trio who are best described as eclectic, unique, and toe tappin’! Their dynamic blend of harmonies and a variety of stringed instruments will bring pleasure to your soul. Band members Dick Wade, Marjie McKee, and Jeff McKee are quite talented and schooled in music and have decades of professional experience performing bluegrass, folk, rock, country, classical, klezmer and Americana music.

Windward Passage Duo – Phil and Sue Bour who live in Virginia, have wowed the Coffee House at every performance! Susan Bour is a classically trained flutist. Retired from 20 years in “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, she currently performs with the Virginia Grand Military Band. Her performances have included concerts with Michael W. Smith, Steve Green, and others in the Kennedy Center and Strathmore Concert Hall. Susan is also Adjunct Flute Professor at Patrick Henry College, maintains a private flute studio, and coaches high school flute sectionals. Phil Bour’s early desire to be a rock star found him performing in local bands in the 70s and 80s. Phil was guest lead guitar recording artist for the Foggy Bottom band.

Ron Farine – A singer/songwriter from Delmont who has not only performed locally, but also in Nashville. His music can be found on CDs and various streaming services. His original songs have been performed by other local musicians, including entertainers at the Coffee House. Ron tells us that having those performers sing his songs makes him “prouder than a game rooster.” He also said that “he never takes himself too seriously” and “music should be fun”!

Linda Biery - A favorite inspirational songwriter, singer, and accomplished musician from Ligonier, whose music creatively revolves around faith and family. Linda’s early performing career was in Nashville. She has recorded several popular CDs, and her music is available on Apple Music.

The Bricks (pictured) - Local entertainers Tim Lint, Sam Paul and Diane Paul entertain with that classic acoustic rock everyone loves. Their typical song selections include music from America, The Eagles, CSNY, The Band, Van Morrison and many others. The Bricks have opened for world famous acts including America, The Marshall Tucker Band, and Hootie & the Blowfish.

Chris Volpe - Our talented emcee for the evening. Chris is a regular host of several popular open mics throughout our area and is a great choice for hosting the evening. Chris is a familiar face at the Coffee House and throughout our music community. The Coffee House has enjoyed Chris's musical talents on the trumpet, guitar, and melodica. Most recently he joined us as the lead singer for his band, Three Good Reasons, and also was a part of Crawdad Joe's band when they performed for us.

The Ligonier Community Coffee House continues its 2026 season on Friday, March 20th with a selection of old favorites and new talented performers promising a wonderful evening of entertainment to end St. Patrick’s week! The Coffee House has been a community favorite for over twenty-three years and now attracts attendees and performers from all over! Each evening has five or six very entertaining stage performances by individuals and groups. The Coffee House also offers a nice selection of delicious homemade desserts and beverages.

The Coffee House is held in the spacious country elegance of the top floor of “The Barn at Ligonier Valley”, whose location is 1 Springer Road in Ligonier, a popular site for weddings, proms, events, and other celebrations! It is spacious and comfortable and a perfect spot for the Coffee House. The dessert and beverage bar opens at 6:15 pm and the music starts at 7:00 pm. Come early for the best seats!

The entertainment for the evening includes:

• Timeless - Cliff & Becky Jobe are a well-known local duo from Delmont and good friends of the Coffee House. They perform original folk songs (with some great guitar pickin’!) as well as classic folk and country tunes from the 50's through the 80's. They wowed the audience at the May '25 Coffee House and we are happy they can return this month.

• Jay Hitt - The last time Jay performed at the Coffee House he was living and performing in New York City. Through the luck of the Irish, he is back in the Pittsburgh area and performing at the Coffee House this month! A songwriter/ arranger/ performer, Jay's musical versatility and down-to-earth folk style speak to the listener of the simple joys found in everyday life. A talent for vivid storytelling combined with crisp and delicate acoustic melodies makes it easy to understand why Jay's songs so effortlessly touch the hearts of his fans. (Pictured)

• Chelsea Biehl – Chelsea Biehl is a country singer/songwriter from Western PA. She’s been performing alongside her guitarist, Scotty Ruffner, since the start of her music career in 2018. Together, they play a music variety that ranges from rock to country, that spans generations, and includes a number of original songs. Chelsea can be seen performing at many locations around the area and on her TikTok page that has over 40k followers!

• Glenn Cawood – A local Irishman complete with Irish kilt, Glenn is always a hit for the St Patrick’s week show. Everyone always enjoys Glenn’s beautiful Irish tunes along with a little Irish humor and history.

• Three Good Reasons – This local group is in demand at numerous venues and festivals throughout the area. They please audiences of all ages with a diverse mix of classic rock, folk, blues and soul. The group consists of Chris Volpe (guitar, trumpet and vocals), Mark Randall (bass and backing vocals), Dave Walters (percussion) and Joe Montalli (keyboard).

• Jeff Bell – The incomparable emcee who is always part of the entertainment that keeps folks coming back!

The next Ligonier Community Coffee House is being held on Friday, February 20th featuring another amazing line-up of performances! The Coffee House has been a favorite entertainment evening for over twenty years and has grown to attract outstanding performers and attendees from well beyond the local community. Each evening has five or six very entertaining stage performances (not just background music) by individuals and groups drawn from Western Pennsylvania and beyond. In addition, the Coffee House offers delicious homemade desserts and beverages at the same unbelievably low prices for over twenty years (admission $5, desserts $2 each, and beverages $1 each, cash only).

Ben Plowman - This young man wowed the audience at his first performance at the Coffee House as a member of VYN and is currently very busy wowing audiences all around the area! He performs songs made famous by artists like Marty Robbins, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, and the Everly Brothers.

Common Ground Acoustic – Ken and Jill Artman are a husband-and-wife duo from New Alexandria. With Ken on the guitar and Jill on the flute they play and sing an impressive variety of rock, country and blues favorites in perfect harmony.

Wayne Shaffer - A popular local plugged-in acoustic guitarist and solo singer who needs no introduction! His throwback signature songs from the 1960's onward tell of relationships, feelings, historical and cultural events by favorite top artists. They really bring back wonderful memories because Wayne performs the songs just the way you remember them!

Marty Zundel - An artist and songwriter from McCullough, PA, Marty plays multiple instruments and has released three studio albums of original music. Marty creates a repertoire of sounds from "jingle jangle" to the thumping backbeat of Motown. What really gets him going is "Cowboy Country Rock”: West Coast, West Texas, Western PA, a little bluegrass, and just a little countryfied R&B thrown in for good measure!

Laura Rullo – A guitarist/vocalist from Greensburg who has been performing solo and with bands since 2020. Laura can be seen performing throughout southwestern Pennsylvania at venues such as restaurants, festivals, markets, wineries, clubs and breweries. In addition to original compositions, her music consists of popular songs from the 1970s through today and incorporates genres including rock, country, pop, and gospel.

Tim Schmider – Hailing from the Allegheny Mountains east of Pittsburgh, Tim is a country musician with a voice that has been described as “pure genuine country”. He is heavily influenced by classic, red dirt, and outlaw country. Despite never singing publicly until the age of 25, he now travels all over Pennsylvania and across the country to perform.

Dan Becker – A singer/songwriter and Pastor of the Morrellville Church in Johnstown. Having grown up playing music in church, Dan's songs narrate his spiritual journey, often drawing on the biblical Psalms. Dan's albums are available anywhere you listen to music, but he says there are other Dan Beckers out there, so look for the one with no hair!

Meredith Holliday – Meredith has been playing acoustic music for over two decades. She is extremely popular and plays music from quiet intimate social events to high energy acoustic rock shows! She has her own musical style, taking popular songs both old and new and creating her own spin on them. Although she has played and sang in many different bands from all different genres of music, her heart is in the acoustic solo performances, and it shows with her sincere interpretations of the songs she performs. There have been many inquiries about when the first Coffee House of the season will be held. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the new season will now begin in January, specifically January 16th. We’ve already begun arranging the entertainment for the season’s kick-off and plan to make this the best season yet! We look forward to seeing our old friends again this season and hopefully make many new ones!

The May 2025 Coffee House is the Grand Finale of the 23rd season! The event is Friday, May 16th in the upper level of “The Barn” at 1 Springer Road in Ligonier. Doors open at 6:15 pm and the entertainment begins at 7:00 pm. Come early for the best seats and the best choice of delicious desserts!

These performers were selected for an awesome Season Finale:

John Larimer – John’s easy-listening voice and style of music is one that we could listen to the entire evening! From Somerset, he has written so many noteworthy songs, including “He Said Yes”, commemorating the world-famous Somerset Quecreek Mine rescue.

Timeless - Cliff & Becky Jobe are a well-known local duo and good friends of the Coffee House. They perform original folk songs (with some great guitar pickin’!) as well as classic folk and country tunes from the 50's through the 80's. It's been a while since they performed at the Coffee House, so this is sure to be a treat for all!

Gregg Stone – (pictured) A newcomer to the Coffee House, this Pittsburgh area singer/songwriter writes and performs songs that tell stories with interesting characters and plenty of imagery. In addition to performing before live and virtual audiences, he is co-coordinator of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Gregg writes, performs and produces music in an array of genres, including Country/Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Ambient, Chill, and even Jazz. His songs are regularly streamed on all major streaming services.

Flying Oaks – A night at the Coffee House is incomplete without great bluegrass music! This talented group of local musicians entertained at the Coffee House together, separately, and as part of other groups! The band members are Martin Bour (guitar and vocals), Jason Jividen (mandolin), Phil Russell (banjo), and Larry Shew (upright bass and vocals).

Jeff Bell – The well-known, loved, and humorous Emcee of the Coffee House who is also a multi-talented musician!

April has really brought showers, but they haven’t dampened the spirit of this month’s Coffee House performers! A great show is planned for Friday April 25th in the upper level of “The Barn” at 1 Springer Road in Ligonier. Doors open at 6:15 pm and the entertainment begins at 7:00 pm. Come early for the best seats and the best choice of delicious desserts!

The great entertainment for the evening includes:

Marshele Bradford Exchange – (Pictured) This extremely talented and popular band is comprised of four veteran musicians from Pennsylvania and Maryland: Brad Foust (guitar and vocals), Radford Vance (banjo and vocals), Michele Birkby-Vance (fiddle and vocals), and Marsha Kirker-Bozich (bass fiddle and vocals). This Bluegrass & Gospel Band is rarely available to join us at the Coffee House so we are pleased with this opportunity!

Tim Dabbs - A favorite from Johnstown, he is accompanied by his wife, Courtney this evening. Tim has been performing and teaching acoustic music for over 40 years. His recordings play on XM Radio and National Public Radio, and he has had TV performances on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and the Fox News “Morning Show”. His performing and songwriting styles are influenced by greats Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin and John Denver.
