Meet the loaf that started it all 🥖

Behind every loaf of our Classic Sourdough is a starter named Gertrude, aka Gertie!

For more than 200 years, this living culture has been passed down through generations of bakers, making its way from a family in San Francisco to our bakery here in Leominster.

Fed daily and carefully maintained, Gertie is the foundation of every loaf we bake. She transforms simple ingredients into the naturally fermented sourdough that sparked Guigo’s passion for bread and ultimately inspired Bread Boy!

Every loaf carries a little piece of that history forward.

And it all starts here. 🤍
