These macarons are dedicated to anyone who has ever said that vanilla is “plain” or “boring”. First of all…rude. Second of all, agree to disagree 🤷🏼♀️
Did you know that vanilla beans are the fruit of the vanilla orchid plant? There are over 100 varieties of this plant, however, only a few species are harvested to produce the world’s commercial vanilla.
Vanilla beans can range drastically in flavor from fruity and floral to smokey and even chocolatey! Not to mention they smell INCREDIBLE.
Depending on how you utilize vanilla, it will emit a different intensity of flavor. The entire bean can be soaked in alcohol to make extract, dried out and pulverized into powder, or the seeds can simply be scraped out and used in sweet OR savory applications. Not so boring now, eh?
Anyway, that’s my rant. You should totally try these vanilla bean macarons. They taste like ice cream! 🍨🌸
