☀️ Emma’s Bakes is BACK at the Lena, IL Farmer’s Market this Saturday! We missed last week and are so excited to be back with fresh sourdough, sweet treats, and some returning favorites.

Last market, the edible cookie dough sold out, we only had ONE loaf of bread left, and just ONE chocolate covered Oreo left by the end of the morning—so come early if you’ve been wanting to try something!

This week we’ll have:
🍪 7 flavors of edible cookie dough
🍫 4 varieties of chocolate covered Oreos
🍞 Fresh sourdough loaves in multiple flavors
🍦 Homemade vanilla extract aged 2 years
🐾 Peanut butter dog treats are BACK!

Emma’s Bakes returns to the Lena, IL Farmers Market tomorrow from 9–12 with familiar favorites like fresh sourdough, stuffed cookies, cream puffs, pumpkin cake, and all the homemade treats many of you came back for week after week last season. Come early for the best selection!

I recently had the opportunity to try the goat cheese from Deer Run Farms in Lena, Illinois, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The cheese is incredibly fresh, smooth, and creamy with that perfect mild tang that good goat cheese should have. You can really tell it’s locally made with care.

I decided to turn it into a simple appetizer by spreading it on a bready cracker and topping it with some homemade bacon bourbon jam. The richness of the jam paired beautifully with the creamy goat cheese, and the slight tanginess balanced the sweetness and smokiness perfectly.

It was one of those combinations where every ingredient shines, and the goat cheese from Deer Run Farms was definitely the star. If you’re local and haven’t tried their products yet, I highly recommend picking some up. It’s perfect for appetizers, charcuterie boards, or just enjoying with good bread and a little something sweet on top.
