Slated to open in early 2026, Cornflower Baked Goods is the neighborhood bakery that Owner/Chef Megan Garrelts has long envisioned opening. Continuing to showcase the best of the Midwest, this new establishment will feature familiar favorites – cinnamon rolls, pies, and cakes – from Megan’s acclaimed pastry programs at the Kansas City, MO and Leawood, KS locations of Rye, which she co-owns with he
r husband, Colby. The Cornflower menu will extend beyond the traditional bakery case, honoring classic Americana while embracing seasonal ingredients, scratch-made recipes, and refined craftsmanship. In addition to beloved baked goods, offerings will include grab-and-go savory sandwiches, curated coffee from Onyx, canned cocktails, and specialty dessert sauces – making Cornflower a neighborhood destination for both convenience and hospitality. A James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef, Megan’s recipes have appeared in Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, The Wall Street Journal, and Saveur.
