Employing and Empowering Special Needs adults. Providing the community with sweet treats. Special Kneads and Treats, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a core mission to try and ensure that any child in our community that has a birthday whose family cannot afford a birthday cake receives one FREE from us.
We work with DFCS, Foster Care, Children’s shelters, partnerships against domestic violence, pregnancy resource centers, battered women’s shelters, homeless shelters and local food cooperative ministries as well as many other local support groups to get these cakes into the hands of those in need. Our business focus is the hiring of special needs adults once they age out of county programs.
Operating as usual

Had a very sweet and tearful meeting today with a sweet lady named Lorna.
She said she wanted to make a donation in memory of her son
O’Neil Moncrieffe. So thru her church
Meadowbrook Baptist church in Lawrenceville they made a donation and we appreciate it so very much.
She also had $40 cash with her and said she wanted to donate that as well and told us it was O’Neils savings that they found in his room.
We are so thankful and blessed by this. I asked Lorna if I could pray with her and she said yes.
I wanted her to know that we appreciated her coming and the awesome gift her son was and that the money that was donated will help to pay other special needs employees and she was very pleased with that.
Thank you Lord for bringing us together today. My soul needed it.
We serve a Big God

Wanted to share this powerful post. This touched me so much and with permission from Mom, was told I could share. It’s very special when someone is baptized and I feel very strongly that our special needs adults have a relationship with Jesus that we just don’t understand. It’s very moving for me. They have amazing testimonies!!!
I am also sharing a photo of our son’s baptism and our employee John’s baptism.
Very special days for all 3. I hope you enjoy and that it touches you as well!!!

Well the day is done. Ready for our 2 days off. A lot of people ask what we do all day, and each day is different, but thought I’d let you know about today.
We made 370 pounds of icing(vanilla, chocolate, caramel, cream cheese, strawberry cream cheese) 497 cupcakes (various flavors), 14-6 inch round vanilla cakes( getting ready for the 70 baby cakes for Eastside), 2 blondies, ground graham crackers for cheesecakes, had people working up front taking care of customers, had people working in the back making cupcakes for up front,Michael finished up his financial audit( we hope), did payroll and now he’s working on orders for Tuesday to be picked up and start the week again.
As I was baking today, that doesn’t happen very often, but today it was necessary, was thinking g of my Mom and all she taught me about being in the kitchen and was very thankful. Then it made me think, “Our we teaching our kids and grandkids these valuable skills?” Do they know how to crack an egg an separate the yolk from the white? Do they know the difference between a dry measure cup and a liquid? Do they know how to scoop up flour in a measuring cup and level it off which a straight edge? and so many other things…
I hope we are passing on our knowledge and SHOWING them how to do things. 😊
I hope y’all have a great weekend and we are very thankful for this journey God has us on.
