We're thrilled to announce the return of our Carne Asada Tacos! Introducing .ignacio, named in honor of our beloved Xoloitzcuintle, . Join us this Friday February 7th at in Overland Park for our debut. We're teaming up with Alejandra, the talented owner of Red Kitchen, who’s bringing her amazing salsas to the table. Come by from 5 PM to 10 PM to enjoy mesquite-grilled ribeye tacos. See you there!

The last 6 years Caramelo has been a production facility only. With high demand in online sales, and the support of our local community, we have been focused solely on getting our products out to the masses. We are extremely thankful for everyone who has placed an order, especially those of you who’ve waited patiently during our long lead times.

​The one thing we are missing in our business is face to face interaction. We want to get to know and connect with the people who make our work possible! As a result, we are happy to announce that our little factory’s doors are now open for you to stop by and buy tortillas, totopos, merch, and amazing goods from our friends—like salsa chilanga from .goods or addictive salsa verde. The store front hours are 11am - 4pm, Monday through Friday.

​We are also ready to start a new adventure – a taqueria! Stop by Saturday afternoons for wood fire carne asada. We don’t know where this journey will lead but, with any luck, you’ll help us figure that out!

Hi folks! know our lead times are long these days, so I wanted to take a minute to give you a little insight into our day-to-day at Caramelo and answer the one burning question you all have – Why does it take so long to ship my tortillas?!

​In short, the answer is high demand, and we’re very thankful to have it. Let me tell you a bit about how our shop operates. Typically when you think of tortilla production, you probably think of big time factory operations like Mission or Mama Lupe’s. Those companies have industrial sized equipment, tons of employees, and the ability to turn a massive amount of product every day. Here at Caramelo, we’re quite the opposite. We’re a team of eight people (shout out to the crew!) working diligently to make a quality, artisanal product. And sure, we have equipment, but it’s like, regular size 🤪. We can only make so many tortillas each day without putting excessive wear and tear on the machines and ourselves.

​There’s also the issue of retail vs. wholesale. In addition to our online store, we have some awesome wholesale partners who account for a large portion of our distribution each week. While we could just focus on wholesale, the retail and individual customer experience is so rewarding and important to us. It was word of mouth from customers like you that really helped put us on the map. And we truly appreciate you.

​So, I know the wait is long, but please trust we’re working hard every day to make and ship as many Caramelo tortillas as we can. Thanks for your patience and all you’ve done to get us here!

We are looking for a full time team member to start as soon as possible. Duties include cutting dough, making doughballs, catching tortillas, counting tortillas and cleaning of tables and utensils.

Experience is not required. It is a very simple but repetitive job. Attention to detail is a must.
