The Great Harvest here in Lawrence has seen a lot in the past ten and a half years. We survived Covid—thrived through it, providing food for the community while keeping everyone on our staff employed and safe. We went through a location change where we transformed from a phenomenal bakery into a bakery and a cafe. We’ve been through multiple rounds of social unrest, supporting those who need us the most, and continuing to support them today. We feed the homeless daily, we donate hundreds of pounds of breads and sweets to food banks every week, we do everything we can to support our community. I hope this city realizes what a treasure they have in Great Harvest, and will continue to have, as I pass the reins over to a new owner.
This will be my last week at Great Harvest. I want to thank all of the incredible people I’ve worked with over the years, the friends I’ve made, the friends I will keep. I want to thank the guests who’ve passed through our doors, the ones I’ve known for over a decade and the ones I’ve only just met. It’s because of the people that Great Harvest has endured all these years and will continue to grow in the years to come. I hope I will get a chance to say goodbye to you before I go, but if I don’t, I just want you to know I’m glad to have had you, and this place, in my life. Thank you.
