Poll time! โ
But first, thank you to all who stopped at the farm stand yesterday and purchased baked goods and jelly, as well as those who picked up orders last week. You are all so appreciated! โค๏ธ
OK, now for the poll - American vs. British scones. When most Americans think of a scone, weโre usually thinking of a sweeter, softer pastry-style scone that has a cake-like texture, while traditional British scones are a little different. British scones are less sweet and more biscuit-like. They are also traditionally round so they can be split open and topped with clotted cream and jam. My family fell in love with the British version after visiting many bakeries while traveling through Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
The scones Iโve offered at the farm stand and on the order form have always been the American-style version. But at the farm stand yesterday, I put out the British-style version instead, only in a wedge shape and not layered.
If you have ever had the opportunity to try both types of scones in any flavor, whether from me or anywhere else, Iโd love to get your opinion because I know everyone has different preferences.
Iโll be offering the sweeter American-style scones, as well as the traditional, lightly sweetened British-style scones at the stand and through the order form. I will alternate between the two at the stand, but both are available to order. (I will make sure to post which type is at the stand.) I also plan to offer savory options of the British scone in the future.
So now Iโm curious - which do you prefer: American-style or British-style scones? I included photos for reference, but the poll isn't only focused on mine, but the two types in general. Thanks and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the subject!
