Attention Parents!!!
Essential Desserts and Food Company will be hosting 2 Kid’s Cooking Camps!! July 12-15 and July 25-28, from 9-2 each day! $150 for each child. You can pick either week for your child to attend.
If you have child that loves to be in the kitchen and wants to pursue a path in the food industry, this will be a great way for them to learn the ins and outs of the food world. I also want to instill as much confidence in your child if they want to pursue a career in the food industry. I want to teach them it is possible to be successful and what it takes to get there. I will have local chefs to come visit the kids to tell them their story and how they got to where they are now.
What are some things your child will learn: These are only a few things,
*Food Safety
*Working with dough! We will make bread and your kids can create their own!
*Homemade Chicken and Noodles. They will make their own noodles and cook it in the broth they create
*They will make pies and learn to make crust*
*Your child will get the chance to see what it is like to create and cater an event! They will work as a class to create a brunch for their parents on the last day. They will cook, bake, prep, create a menu, and run the event.
*Lots of fun challenges! I will have daily challenges that the kids will participate in. These will be team challenges. They will have to create a dish that I assign. For example, one day they will have to create a breakfast sandwich, another a signature sandwich. Ingredients will be provided and they have to create it and present to me to taste. I will have others to help me judge. These challenges are to help your child tap into their creative side. Being creative is important in this industry.
I will be sending out an email to all the parents a week before the class. Please make sure you read the email. It will contain a release form and rules the kids will need to follow. This is done for the safety of your child.
This camp will be using gluten and nuts. If your child has any food allergies, you will need to sign a waiver understanding that these ingredients will be present!
I am looking forward to working with your child and teaching them everything I have learned from starting a business to being where I am today. There has been nothing greater than being able to put smiles on my customers faces with my work. I want to share that joy with the kids in hopes that they stay with their passion and pursue a path in the food industry.

I will be offering 2 Cooking Camps for Kids!! I had so many interested so I’m doing 2. I will also start doing monthly classes kids can attend for a few hours in the evening(more details later)
July 12th-15th, 30 kids
July 25th-28th 30 kids
Time: 9 am- 3 pm
Cost $150 per child.
Ages 8-17
This will be a fun camp where we will bake, cook, and learn about different areas of the food industry!! Your child will learn to work as a team in different activities. They will have individual activities too.
Your child will learn food safety the first day! I expect them to follow the rules and respect other attendees! I use to teach so I have no problem with disciplining any child. We are dealing with food and equipment and I expect rules to be followed to keep the kids safe! Your child will help clean and wash dishes just like if they were in a real food environment.
On the last day, the kids will create a brunch event to serve to the parents. They will all work as one to create this event. They will serve, bake, and cook on that day. They will get to design a grazing table and set up food stations!
To keep the kids safe, I won’t have a lot to do with cutting. I will have things precut! In my future classes I will teach cutting techniques.

Some tips to people looking to host an event!
1. You need to have a budget! A realistic budget on what you are able to spend! And you need to understand food cost and cost for vendors to run their business right now. You may want 150 people but your budget says no!
2. You need to book the venue and caterer at least a year in advance. If you have a place and someone in mind, you have to book early! The best places and caterers are always booked early!
3. Always keep in contact with your venue, caterer and planner. 6 months check in, 1 month and the most important at least 10-14 days before the event just in case anything changes. I’m finding that in those 2 weeks attendance changes and a special menu or plate needs to happen for dietary or allergy reasons.
4. Be prepared for supplies to not be available or pricing may change with some caterers before your event. Make sure you discuss this at your initial meeting! I don’t change mine but some will have to to cover cost! Product and supplies are going up and now hard to find.
To have a successful event, you need to check in with everyone involved before your day! Things happen!
Because of Covid, 2022 and 2023 are expected to be one of the biggest years for events. Plan ahead!!

Being half Asian, I grew up having food like this!
These are pork and veggie spring rolls with Nuoc Cham dipping sauce! If I had time I would open an asian restaurant with real asian cuisine.
Puff Pastry tower and mini eclairs tray! You can do all sorts of designs for these towers. This one has the drizzled chocolate on it! These are great for any occasion and the pastries can be filled with different creams!

Auntie Em's Farm Fresh Pies, based here in the Cambridge City area is now baking an amazing assortment of fresh fruit and cream pies - and soon cobblers. Buy by the slice or the whole pie and cobbler. We are thankful for Gina and Emily and look forward to having you all experience their magic! Orders can be taken as well. More info coming. We won't be baking specialty cakes or decorated items by order at this time - and instead will work hard to entice you daily and weekly with a wide array of amazing treats.
Breakfast is served! Breakfast casserole with sausage, ham, cheese, onions, spinach, mushrooms!
These are Choux Pastry. It’s a French pastry that you can use in multiple ways. These are light and airy and buttery. I filled them with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry whipped cream and dusted them with powdered sugar!
Today I using Phyllo Dough to create a breakfast and lunch. Phyllo dough is a very thin pastry sheet that is usually used for baklava. It’s not an easy dough to work with but love that I can create different things with it!
I like to create things that look and are different. I like a cool way to present my food.
I created blossom bowls to fill with yogurt and fruit. I flavored the pastry sheets with sugar to give it a light sweetness.
I also created a blossom bowl to fill eggs, ham, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and coated the sheets with butter and cheese.
I also created a pizza and flavored each sheet with olive oil and Parmesan cheese and stuffed each layer!!
These blossoms bowls are a great show piece for any event and I can stuff them with pretty much anything!

Tonight and Saturday night is Peach Fosters sautéed in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon with rum, streusel topping with a homemade sugar dough cookie and ice cream!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake. Chocolate cake with a peanut butter mousse in the middle, with chocolate Nutella Frosting. This will be at Diner 67 shortly.
