The Story That Started It All 💜

When I first started Sweet Encounter, my girls were just 4 and 2 years old, tiny hands helping in the kitchen, giggling as we baked together. What most people didn’t see were the late nights filled with worry and the constant label checking for hidden gluten.

Both of my daughters were diagnosed with food allergies at a young age, and every meal felt like a risk. I still remember their faces lighting up the first time they could enjoy something sweet without fear. That moment changed everything.

Sweet Encounter was born out of that love and determination to create safe, inclusive, and exceptionally delicious treats. Because no child or parent should have to choose between safety and joy.

As we celebrate the start of Gluten Free Awareness Month, I’m reminded of why this journey began and how far we’ve come. From a home kitchen filled with hope to a brand that serves people nationwide, this is more than baking. It’s about belonging.

Here’s to every parent who’s ever had to say “no” to keep their child safe. And to everyone who’s found joy in finally being able to say “yes.” 💜

I’ll be in Washington, D.C., October 29–30 for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Summit.

I have the sweet honor of serving as one of Michigan’s Advocacy Meeting Captain in Congressional meetings with Senators Elissa Slotkin and Gary Peters

Additionally, in my role as a 10KSB Voices Summit Media Surrogate, my focus will be calling attention to the need for certainty and policies that foster small business growth across the US.
