Kind of an absurd thing to do to a giant chocolate chip cookie, but here we are: browned butter chocolate chip cookie with milk chocolate drizzle. Baked off 3 extra just for me.

Had a lovely last early morning in the kitchen. I'll miss the flow of a chaotic morning bake but I'm so excited to not wake up and start work in the middle of the night!!!!!

Expect several more sentimental gratitude posts as I clean and pack up the kitchen over the next couple of weeks. ❤️❤️❤️

Yall really went all out on the last ordering period. And this wasn't even all the dough!! Gonna be an early morning tomorrow, but I'm excited. While I'm happy to have a more normal sleep schedule, there's a part of me that's always gonna love being awake when most people are asleep.

One thing I am mourning is the end of my tenure at . Not only has it been a beautiful baking lab and production space for the last 4 years, it's been a second home. I have learned so much within these walls, lost so much skin off my forearms, eaten so much good food, had some great laughs and some great tears, and grown extremely fond of my landlords and their awesome kids, and this beautiful property. Feelin all kinds of sentimental this morning!!!

Remember to put your order in on before tonight at 9. There will also be a lot of product on friday. And then I guess I'm done 🤯🤯🤯

These days in the kitchen feel heavy with finality. I assembled the last pain au chocolate, delivered the last bread to the langley restaurants, baked my last batch of scones. I'm all at the same time grieving the end of this project, feeling grateful for how it went, and excited for what's next.

A customer reached out to ask me about an olive oil brioche that I hadn't made in 3 years, so I added it late to last week. Very happy with how the mix and bake turned out yesterday morning! It's based on recipe and uses both poolish and starter and a boat load of organic extra virgin olive oil (instead of the customary boat load of butter). I'm taking this week off to see some fam and spend a chunk of time inventorying my remaining dry goods and whatever supplies I might want to sell off. Then I'm back and baking up a storm the first three weeks of April!!

Liked the Irish coffee scones we did for st pats so much that I'm offering them again this week on . It's got irish cream, coffee and a white chocolate drizzle, delicious. Get your order in this week because I'm taking next Friday off (the 28th) for a family thing, and then I'll be baking for 3 more weeks!!!!!! I have some news I want to share: I'm closing up shop at the end of April. I don't make this decision lightly, and it was a tough one. In lieu of divulging too much of the wild inner workings of my brain, I'm just gonna say that I'm ready for the next chapter of my life. Even so, I'll miss baking for all of you! And as crazy as it is, I'll miss the high intensity early morning bakes juggling a million little projects and making split-second decisions based on an ever changing ecosystem. And heavens will I miss the creative outlets I've been playing with over the last few years. But life is change, and I'm ok with that.

Our last bake day will be April 18th, and until then I'll  be cranking out some fun new things for Whidbey Island Grown, Fennel and Fig, and Fridays at Biercuterie.

From the bottom of my heart, thanks for everything. I'm so grateful for the growth and experience and knowledge I've gained over the past few years of running my lil bakery. I'll keep this account active to share my homesteading/painting endeavors and stay connected to the community that's built up around Acorn. See you around the island!
