Hambeens Soup with cornbread. We had them on New Year’s Day…the old fashioned way. I buy the Great Northern Hambeens and soak overnight in 8 cups of water. Drain and rinse the next morning, add eight cups fresh water, one cup of onion, two cups of diced ham and a ham hock. Bring to a full boil. Then lower to a simmer and add the seasoning packet that comes with the beans just before serving. Salt and pepper to taste. Just the way mom always made them. Yum.
