My most requested engagement session location especially this time of year is Lancaster City. No matter the season the architecture makes a beautiful backdrop for photos.

There is something for everyone from the rustic red brick of Central Market, neutral stone buildings and so many cute little spots to get cozy and grab a drink or sweet treat.

I love that no matter how many times I photograph a couple in Lancaster, I find new inspiration for each love story.

If you’ve never thought of winter for a photo session, let me tell you it can be such a magical season and back drop for photos.

I’m seeing many couples who are booking photography later in their planning process or having shorter engagement periods, so this winter is full of engagement session for couples hoping to get save the dates out or who are having a spring wedding.

And I must say, I’m loving it! The snow and ice make for a magical look and the neutral browns of the landscape work beautiful with so many wardrobe colors, not to mention the beautiful wintery sunsets!

2016 was a special year for me personally and professionally. Two big things happened that year that set the wheels in motion for me to start a business.

1) I became a mom which gave me the drive to figure out a way to be home more and leave my teaching job. Motherhood made me fall in love with photography again as I documented all her milestones.

2) My husband surprised me with a new battery for my “good camera” so I could take better pictures of my new baby. It had been years since I picked up my camera.

I had always loved photography and took many classes through life to better my skills but had lost my battery and charger a few years prior and never got a new one during the busyness of life.

I had tried to start a photo business right after college but it didn’t stick. I wasn’t until I had a stronger why and realized how much I missed photography that I would take starting my own business seriously.

What a duo these siblings are going to be 💜

I documented this big sister’s newborn session a couple of years ago and it was really fun to come back and see her in her new role as big sister! She brought the energy and her baby brother had the sweetest smile through it all.

As a mom of four, I really treasure getting to capture all the tiny details for families when they bring home a new babe. I know these are the things you’ll miss and want to look back on as they grow. This guy had the sweetest, wispy hair and his little sleepy angel face just melts my heart!

I usually love when the wind shows up for sessions but last weekend’s 40mph gusts were aggressively un-romantic.

We’d planned to shoot part of the session inside a hotel, but after stepping outside once, I asked Ashley and Kyle if they were open to doing the whole session indoors. They said yes immediately (no surprise there).

The hotel ended up being perfect, warm light around every corner and even an empty nook in the bar where they grabbed a drink. What started as a backup plan turned into the coziest session, and honestly? I wouldn’t change a thing.

I can’t handle all these sweet family sessions this year 😍 this family session was filled with so much love and sweet candid moments. I love how these big siblings doted and loved on their baby sis, it was absolutely precious to see.

Danielle and her family had the perfect color palette for the lighting and location of their session. I love a hunter green, rust and tan combo and I think I’m going to have to use it as inspo for my own family season this year.
