I won’t be selling any pops this weekend… but I DO know where you can get some 👀
For those of you that don’t know me, I am a 911 dispatcher. I was full time prior to Jameson being born, but I’m now part time.
In my time at Newton county, I’ve met some great people and consider a lot of those people family. One of those people is Corporal Brandon Schreiber.
On September 1, 2024, Brandon was shot in the line of duty. He stayed with us until September 11 when he succumbed to his injuries.
Brandon is very important to my family. Not only was he one of our very best friends, but him and his wife made Jeremy and I the godparents to their children. His memory lives on in his wife, their 2 children, our department, and even in our little guy, whose middle name is Brandon.
Since his passing, a memorial scholarship fund has been started in Brandon’s name. Each year, a senior from North Newton and South Newton high schools are chosen to receive funds for their upcoming college journeys.
Moral of this story? It’s my turn to give back to our community and help honor Brandon.
On Sunday August 23rd, there will be a softball tournament at the Kentland Community Center fields to not only help raise money for the scholarships, but also honor Brandon while having a good time with some even better people.
I’ve decided to donate the remainder of my stock to the concession stand to help fund Brandon’s scholarship. 100% of the proceeds will go to the scholarship fund. If all of the pops sell, that would add almost five hundred dollars to the scholarship fund. And nothing would make me happier 💙
Pops will still be $3.50 a piece. So come out, have some fun, participate if you’re able, and help us honor our corporal 💙🖤💙
